The bidder is required to have prior work experience in construction works of a similar nature and volume. The experience should be for at least the last five years. The bidder should provide information on the total annual volume of civil engineering construction work executed and payments received in the last five years preceding the year in which bids are invited. The bidder should have executed similar nature of works, but the exact amount and percentage are not specified in some cases. However, the bidder must have satisfactorily completed at least one similar work equal in value to one-third of the estimated cost of work. In some cases, the figures are 60% of the amount put to bid if it's Rs.200 lakhs and less, or 75% if it's more than Rs.200 lakhs. The bidder should have achieved a minimum financial turnover in any one year, equivalent to the specified percentages of the amount put to bid. The bidder should also provide details of works in hand and machineries owned or on lease or possessed on hire. For some technical personnel, at least 10 years of experience in construction, with 3 years of experience in road works, and 4 years of experience for others is required. Subcontracting is allowed up to 25 percent of the contract price. The amount and deductible for insurance are 1% of the estimated cost of construction put to tender. Annual Turnover Certificate from Chartered Accountant for the last five financial years with a breakup of civil works and total works in each financial year is required. The bidder should have access to lines of credit and availability of other financial resources/facilities, certified by a banker, with a value of at least 10 percent of the contract value.
