The bid capacity required in the given tender to bid can be calculated using the formula: Assessed Available Bid Capacity = (A*N*M-B) Where: A = Maximum value of civil engineering works executed in any one year during the last five years (updated to the price level of the last year at the rate of 8 percent per year), taking into account the completed as well as works in progress. N = Number of years prescribed for completion of the works for which bids are invited (period up to 6 months to be taken as ½ and more than 6 months as 1 in a year). M = 3 B = Value, at the current price level, of existing commitments and on-going works to be completed during the period of completion of the works for which bids are invited. Additionally, the bidder's available bid capacity for construction work should be equal to or more than the total bid value excluding maintenance, and the bidder should have access to lines of credit and other financial resources/facilities equivalent to 10 percent of the contract value. Other relevant formulas include: 1. 60% of bid value (for bid value <= 200 lakhs) 2. 75% of bid value (for bid value > 200 lakhs) 3. 50% of bid value (for Naxal / Left Wing Extremist Affected Districts) 4. 120% of turnover from PMGSY road works (for originally stipulated completion period) 5. One-third of estimated cost of work (for similar work completion) 6. One-fourth of estimated cost of work (for similar work completion in Naxal / LWE affected districts)
