HUSURFACE PREPARATION OF TANK ROOF// Surface preparation using hand tool cleaning using non sparking tools and solvent cleaning including removal of oil, grease and other contaminants removal of loose or defective paint, rust from the metallic surfaces, by hand chipping, scrapping, hand brushing, using chipping hammers, hand scrappers/chisels, coire brushes, sand paper, steel wools etc. and final cleaning with high pressure (@ 3000 psi and more), low TDS soft water jet and drying with compressed air , with clean brushes/rags, providing all labours, tools & tackles, arrangement for working at heights to complete the work in all respect as per the specifications, and directions of EIC / Site Engineer. The Prepared surface shall conform to ST. 2. Holes and pits during the course of surface preparation on the roof must be plugged by owner supplied metal putty to mould the pits in perfect match with the flat surface of top deck plates prior to application of primer strip coat . The fine nylon wire mesh shall be provided by contractor for plugging holes with metal putty.

HUPAINTING OF TANK ROOF AND TANK SHELL// TANK ROOF + SHELL : Tank Roof and Shell above 3rd cooling ring - One coat of high build, self priming, rust encapsulating polyamidoamine cured epoxy mastic coating aluminium version (min 80 % solid by volume) to a dry film thickness of 100 microns by AIRLESS SPRAY application followed by one coat of Solvent free Epoxy (100 % solid by volume) with minimum 200 microns DFT by AIRLESS SPRAY application, followed by two coats of isocyanate acrylic aliphatic PU coat (min 50% solid by vol.) with each coat minimum 50 microns DFT by AIRLESS SPRAY application. Stripe coat to be applied prior to spray painting on all welds (Primer & Solvent free epoxy), locations of exposed steel surface (Primer). Min 20% paint wastage will be considered in all paint irrespective of DFT as per paint data sheet. Overcoating interval to be interspersed with water washing after each coat wherever and whenever required. Tank shell upto 3rd cooling ring - Two coats of isocyanate acrylic aliphatic PU coat (min 50% solid by vol.) with each coat minimum 50 microns DFT by AIRLESS SPRAY application . Min 20% paint wastage will be considered in all paint irrespective of DFT as per paint data sheet. Overcoating interval to be interspersed with water washing after each coat wherever and whenever required.

HUWRITING ON TANK SHELL/ROOF/NOZZLES// "Writing on roof and Shell- Painting of Tank number, Capacity, Service shell nozzles designation, Custom Bonding No., Explosive No., Stirrer No., Foam pourer No., Riser No., Earthing No., Owner's name (Indian Oil in big letters) with monogram, etc. as per the instructions of theEngineer-in-Charge/ Site Engineer. Numbers shall be painted at three positions, 120 degrees apart, below roof level and shall be clearly visible from outside the dyke/ road side. Recommended size of letters is 0.5 m high and 50 mm thick. Additionally, at the foot of the staircases of tank, tank number, safe filling height, reference height and name of the product being handled shall be painted clearly. Recommended size of letters is 150 mm and 12 mm thick Luminous/radium paint shall be used."
