Material Primer (Liquid adhesive) - The primer (DENSOLEN-MT25) shall consist of a mixture of butyl rubber, synthetic compound and a solvent. The primer shall be applied to the appropriately prepared pipe surface before application of inner layer tape. The function of primer is to provide a bonding medium between the pipe surface and the inner layer tape. The primer shall be quick drying type, the maximum drying time shall not be more than 30 minutes. The primer shall be suitable for brush application as well as machine application. The coverage of the primer shall be 7 sq. m per litre and the shelf life of the primer shall be at-least 2 years. The primer shall comply with the requirement of latest DIN EN 12068 (stress class-C) Standard and shall be free from any health hazard during storage and application. The offered primer shall be compatible with the offered tape and shall be suitable for application at temperatures ranging from 0OC to 60OC and operation of the coated pipe from temperatures ranging from 0OC to 50OC. Dry film thickness of the primer shall be 40-80 microns. The offered consumption rate (7 sq. m per litre) shall be demonstrated at site. Pipe with a fairly smooth surface shall be shot blasted at site in presence of the supplier#s representative and the primer shall be applied on the pipe to ascertain the consumption rate of the primer during the initial coating refurbishment with each lot of material. In case, the coverage rate at site is found to be less than specified (7 sq. m per litre), the differential quantity of primer falling short shall be supplied by the supplier free of cost at site. The details about properties of primer are mentioned in Table-5 on page 13 of DIN EN 12068:1999. The supplied primer shall be is line with the requirement of DIN-EN 12068 (Stress class-C). 3.
