Adult Life Buoy of MMD/SOLAS approved with the following specifications: - Type.lifebuoys shall be of the annular ring type, sizes, Lifebuoys shall have an outer diameter of not more than 400 mm ( 15-3/4 inches). Materials. a)General. All exposed materials shall be rot-proof and be resistant to deterioration from: sunlight exposure, oil or oil products, Lifebuoys shall be constructed of inherently buoyant material and shall not depends upon rushes, cork shavings or granulated cork, any other loose granulated materials or any air compartment which depends on inflation for buoyancy. b)Unicellular Plastic: The unicellular plastic material used in fabrication of the buoy body. The buoy’s body shall be finished with two coats of vinyl base paint. Lifeboat Buoyant Materials will require a more protective alternate covering. The lifebuoys shall be of a highly visible orange colour. c) Grab line. The grab line shall be not less than 9.5 mm (3/8 - inch) in diameter. It shall be polyethylene, or other suitable buoyant type synthetic material. It shall have a minimum breaking strength of 6000 Newton’s (1,350 pounds). d) Beckets. When used, beckets for securing the grab line shall be 2- inch polyethylene, nylon, saran or other suitable synthetic material and shall have a minimum breaking strength of 2600 Newton’s (585 pounds). e) Thread. When used to secure beckets and grab lines, each thread must meet the requirement of 46 CFR 164.023. Only one kind of thread may be used in each seam.

Adult Life Jacket of MMD/SOLAS Approved with the following specifications. a)Construction. The quality of workmanship (e.g. seam stitching, fixing of various fixtures, ergonomics of design and placement of fixtures etc.) must be of high order. b)It should be fitted with a whistle made of a rustproof material, capable of making a load shrill note in fresh water/sea water, and firmly secured by a cord . c) Vest should be fitted on a nylon sleeveless mesh vest. Vest should have pockets/ pouches. Should also have means for airlifting a survivor during search and rescue operation. d) The buoyancy of Life jacket should be at least 16kg in fresh water. Weight should not exceed 1.5kg. Life jackets should be suitable for use by adults.

Search & Rescue jackets-Deep florescent orange colour with black piping colour boarded Length-74 cm, Width -59cm, Reflective stripe two horizontal and two vertical with 5cm width covering both front & Back .Dept. Of Disaster Management will be printed in deep Blue and other in white colour. OR First Aid Jackets-Deep florescent Green Colour with black piping colour. Boarder Length – 74cm, Width-59 cm, Reflective stripe two horizontal and two vertical with 5cm width covering both front and back.
