The inlet flow will divide and enter the tower part of each sedimentation cell from its two opposite sides. As the water will displace upward in smooth, gently , flow, the suspended solids coalesce to from precipitates which will settle in the chambers on the lower portion of each lamella plate. Influent water flowes upwards over the plates. the deposited precipitates increase in size until they slide or roll down the inclined surface of the plates. This will then be collected in the hopper provided at the bottom of the separator.
