The bidding capacity is worked out by a formula that considers the maximum value of civil engineering works executed in any one year during the last five years. The bidder should have a minimum of 10% of the estimated cost as credit facilities certified by the bankers. The bidder's assessed available bid capacity should be more than the total bid value, calculated as (A*N*2 - B), where A is the maximum value of civil engineering works executed in any one year, N is the number of years prescribed for completion of the works, and B is the value of existing commitments and on-going works. The formula for bidding capacity is: Bidding Capacity = {[AxNxM]-B} Where: A = Maximum value of civil engineering works executed in any one year during the last five years N = Number of years prescribed for completion of the works for which bids are invited M = 2.0 B = Value, at the current price level, of existing commitments and on-going works to be completed during the next 1.5 years The bidder should provide information on the quantities of work executed as prime contractor or nominated sub-contractor in the last five years, including: - Cement concrete (including RCC and PSC) - Masonry earthworks - WMM bituminous work The bidder should also provide information on their bid capacity, including works for which bids have been submitted and works which are yet to be completed. The bidder should be able to invest a minimum of 25% of the contract value of work during implementation of the contract. The Performance Security is 5 percent of the contract price plus an additional amount. The exact percentage of similar works completed is not specified, but the value and percentage of similar works are considered in the evaluation process. The value of "B" (existing commitments and on-going works) is subtracted from the product of A, N, and M to determine the bidding capacity.
