Loading/discharging of reduction batches consisting of the following works : Shifting of SS430 liner from store yard to SPF, cleaning, leak testing with water, placing it in reduction crucible, making lifting hook hole by electrode cutting (welding). Shifting the magnesium ingot pallets from Magnesium storage building to SPF, Loading of required quantity of Mg ingots in reduction crucible. Shifting of reduction hardware items such as crucible, baffle plate and radiation shield from washing area to reduction Washing and testing of reduction top cover. Shifting of Chloride can from chlorination building area to Reduction area. Placing of material loaded hardware items into reduction retort, closing with top cover after cleaning the retort flange with soda ash solution and placing “O” ring in the groove and tightening the fasteners. Assisting the operator for leak testing if required, help to change the bleeder valve and assisting to maintain bleeder valve. Giving electrical connection to calrod heaters and replacing the defective heaters during general shift. Connecting the condensers with retort after placing it in furnace. Disconnecting the retort from condensers and cleaning the condenser nozzles and shifting the retort from the furnace. Discharging the batch after reduction operation and cooling by unbolting the fasteners and removing the top cover and other hardware items from the retort and washing/cleaning the hardware items including reduction retort if required. Liner cutting is to be done using electrode cutting / cutting machine. Cutting machine, electrode and cutting wheel will be supplied by the department. Peeling of SS430 liner from reduced mass after cutting the liner. Helping forklift operator to break the reduced mass from MgCl2. Carryout the work as directed by Engineer In Charge and complete.

Loading/discharging of vacuum Distillation batches consisting of the following works: Placing the reduced mass after removing MgCl2 in vacuum distillation sponge table. Placing of hardware item like salt can, spacer etc in distillation retort. Helping in loading the reduced mass in vacuum distillation retort and placing top retort ,the furnace and allied work such as placing of O ring and tightening of fasteners etc. Discharging of vacuum distillation batch and cleaning of Mg and MgCl2 from bottom retort. If sponge plate assembly got struck up with spacer, the welding required for using hydraulic jack is to be done and after separation removing the batch the welding has to be removed by grinding. Cleaning of the area and complete the job as directed by Engineer in charge. (Three reduction batches will be loaded in one VD batch.)

Packing By Product/ Solid Effluent: Collection, Packing including repacking of old stock in HDPE bag with liner, Stitching, Weighing and Transporting by department pallet truck from MgCl2 building to Solid effluent building if required, stacking and storing of Magnesium chloride (Gr. I and Magnesium scrap and residue from reduction hardware, residue from retort washing produced as by products and maintaining the MgCl2 packing area neat and clean. De-chocking and removal of condensed Chlorides from Exhaust coming from Reduction units and packing them in HDPE bags and water washing of ducts including scaffolding work if any required and as directed by Engineer-in-charge and complete. Minor welding jobs in SPF such as numbering of hardware, fabrication of small items required for carrying out the job in SPF, etc., shall be carried out using the welder coming for this job as directed by Engineer in charge. Chisel, hammer, shawls, crowbar shall be brought by the contractor for the work as required.
