Specimen preparations and material characterization (i) Specimens of different dimensions have to be prepared from the materials (P91, Welds, stainless steel, mild steel, zirconium, titanium alloys and tungsten carbide) by cutting manually or using abrasive cutting machine to required size (ii) Providing assistance in the operation of high temperature furnace with/without gas purging and load/unload the specimens in IGCAR/UGC/IFFRM facilities of MMG (iii) Mechanical and electrochemical polishing of specimens in emery sheet from 80 to 4000 grit. Specimens should be polished in velvet cloth using diamond paste to obtain mirror finish. (iv) Providing assistance in the operation of cooling water and cleaning loop facilities. (v) Operation and maintenance of chemical vapour deposition (CVD), atmospheric plasma spray (APS) / high velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF), salt spray chamber and other coating facilities. (vi) Operation and maintenance of slow strain rate testing (SSRT), electron probe microanalysis (EPMA), scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and other experimental activities in IGCAR/UGC/IFFRM facilities of MMG (vii) Materials (samples, equipment parts, gas cylinders) transfer from central stores / central workshop / zonal workshop/ IFFRM (Kokilamedu)/ UGC (Kokilamedu) sites as per requirement.
