Technical Note: i) Apart from the confirmity with the grading and quantity requirement of invidual ingredients exhibited above the mix aggregate i.e. coarse and fine aggregate for dense bituminious concrete shall meet all requirements set forth clause 505 of MORT&H 5th Revision specifications. ii) The final grading for the aggregates required for dense bituminius macadam confirming to table 500.10 of MORT&H 5th revision specifications shall be determined after getting the dense bituminous macadam desinged from Punjab PWD, B&R Research Laboratory Patiala after obtaining 60% of material. The design mix so finally approved shall be termed as the approved mix. The aggregates shall satisfy the physical requirement set fourth in table 500-6 (Addendum to latest revision). iii) The approved mix shall exhibit the following details, source and location of all material: - iii (a) Binder expressed as percentage by weight of total mix. iii (b) Course expressed as percentage by weight of total mix. iii (c) Crushed bajri expressed as percentage by weight of total mix. iii (d) Final aggregate expressed as percentage by weight of total mix iii (e) A single definite percentage passing each sieve for mixed aggregates. iii (f) Density of dense bituminous macadam after compaction will be not less than 2.30 gm/CC.

The design mix so finally approved shall be termed as the approved mix. The aggregates shall be hydrophobic and of low porosity. The aggregates shall satisfy the physical requirement set fourth in table 500-6 (addendum to latest revision). iii) The approved mix shall exhibit the following details, source and location of all material: - iii (a) Binder expressed as percentage by weight of total mix. iii (b) Course expressed as percentage by weight of total mix. iii (c) Crushed bajri expressed as percentage by weight of total mix. iii (d) Final aggregate expressed as percentage by weight of total mix iii (e) A single definite percentage passing each sieve for mixed aggregates. iii (f) Density of bituminous concrete after compaction will be not less than 2.35 gm/CC.
