Painting the control shaft gate after surface preparation through copper slag blasting process as per IS 1477 Part I -1971 the average surface roughness after copper blast should not exceed 40 microns) the copper blast surface should be cleaned from loose dust and debris through air blast with the help of blower, to the class B specififation ie., at least 95% of surface of steel should be cleared to base metal except some tightly bonded residue in the form of mill scale/rust only. Then apply two coats of zinc rich primer (containing not less than 85% of zinc on dry film) to give a total dry film thickness of 70+5 microns within a time gap of 6 hours, after surface preparation. Then apply two coats of solvent less coal tar epoxy paint at an interval of 24 hours (150 microns each) including the cost of epoxy paint, primer, copper slag, compressed air, labour et., complete as per the guide lines of IS 14177-1994 (reaffirmed 2019) and as per the directions of departmental officers
