MDPE PIPE LAYING WITH STEEL PIPELINE LAYING IN COMMON TRENCH THROUGH OPEN CUT METHOD Over and above SOR Item Nos. defined under 1.0 as mentioned above, this SOR Item shall be paid additional for Laying of MDPE Pipe of 125 MM, 90 MM, 63 MM or as per Site requirement as per the relevant standard/ specification etc. The minimum depth of the top of either pipeline shall be 1.2 mtrs measured from top of pipeline/ pipeline coating to the top of undisturbed surface of the soil or as per SCC/ relevant code, PNGRB regulations whichever is higher. Transportation/ Stringing/ Uncoiling of the MDPE line pipe on the pipeline, laying of MDPE line pipe along with steel pipeline of sizes as mentioned, including executing all works; supply of all materials (except Owner supplied materials), consumables, labour and other incidental works and handing over the same after return of the surplus pipes to the Owner's designated stockyard(s); carrying out all temporary, ancillary, auxiliary works required to make the MDPE pipeline ready for commissioning as per drawings, specifications, PNGRB regulations, scope of work indicated in PJS and other provisions of Contract document and instructions of Engineer-in-charge. The other activities are as per SOR 1.0 including its notes.

INSTALLATION OF CARRIER PIPE BY HDD METHOD - UNCASED CROSSING/ LAYING SCOPE - Complete work of installation of carrier pipe at crossings/ laying along route (between the limits as defined in approved drawings) or wherever required by HDD method for roads, nala, drain and canal wherever required in all types of soils/ murram and terrains including scope covered in SOR Item 1 above but not limited to string preparation of pipes, welding, welding repair, radiography, coating of field joints with special type of Heat Shrink Sleeve (Direx) and repair of pipeline coating with special repair patch materials as per Specification, pre-testing/ post testing etc. of complete string made for crossing, but not limited to, following works in accordance with specifications and instruction of Engineer-in-Charge and as per all provision of Contract Document. PRE-HYDROTEST SHALL NOT BE REQUIRED FOR INSTALLATION/ LAYING OF PIPELINE THROUGH HDD ALONG THE ROAD/ ROUTE. SURVEY - Pre-Construction survey based on site visit, collection of data (if required) from concerned Authority including design and detail engineering and making of crossing/ laying along route drawings for getting their approval from concerned Authority/ Engineer-in-Charge, getting work permit/ NOC for crossings as well as utility crossings (if any) encountered during crossings prior to start of the execution of work. Additional land required for placement of HDD equipments and/ or string preparation shall be in Contractors scope. DRILLING - Drilling to required depth including maintenance/ restoration of drill hole in all types of soils/ murram/ mixed strata, all depth to accommodate the pipeline at all conditions encountered during crossing/ laying along route by approved HDD methods procedure for providing minimum cover specified in code/ specification/ PNGRB regulations or as decided by concerned authority, whichever is more. RESTORATION - Backfilling of the ditch/ trench including restoration and clean-up of area and all other works including cleaning, gauging and final hydro testing etc. along with mainline works required as per specification, approved drawings, calculations, methods and to the satisfaction of Engineer-in-Charge and/ or as directed by concerned Authority. MEASUREMENT - The length of HDD mentioned is tentative and may vary to the considerable extent depending upon requirements as per site conditions. The length mentioned in SOR is indicative for all the crossing to be done by HDD, numbers and locations shall be decided by Engineer-in-Charge depending upon site condition. PAYMENT - Payment for the length of final tie-in carrier pipeline string with mainline laid by HDD are inclusive in this item rate. No separate payment shall be made under other clauses mentioned elsewhere. Payment shall be based on the actual length (i.e. length between tie-in joints) of pipeline laid by HDD. Exact location of tie-in shall be approved by Owner/ Owner's representative. Rate for this SOR item for steel pipeline laying is inclusive of carrier pipe string preparation (Welding, NDT, Pretesting, Coating, Hydro testing, Pre-commissioning etc.).

INSTALLATION OF CARRIER PIPE - CASED CROSSING Laying cased crossings by auger boring/ jacking method/ Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) method using casing pipes and 3LPE coated carrier pipes of various sizes with or without MDPE as per requirement according to drawings/ specification(s) and providing all works, labour, inputs and materials/ consumables necessary to perform and complete the works in all respect in accordance with the contract. Taking delivery and transportation of Owner-supplied 3LPE coated pipes, MDPE pipes to the work site from designated stockpile location, inspection of the coated pipes visually and/ or with holiday detector for defects, arranging all necessary intermediate storage area required thereof till the pipes are installed in permanent position, setting out the works, aligning and welding the casing and carrier pipes, 100% radiography of weld joints of carrier pipes, field joint coating, holiday detection & repair of coating, applying at least two coats of bitumastic paint over a coat of suitable primer to external surface of casing pipe, and two component epoxy coating for internal surface of casing pipe. Excavation/ trenching and/ or drilling/ boring in all kinds of soil, mixed strata or rocky strata, inserting the casing pipe into the bore, pre-hydrostatic testing of the carrier pipe and replacement/ rectification of defects/ pipes, suitably tying MDPE pipe with carrier pipe (after installation of insulators on carrier pipe) where ever required, carefully inserting the carrier pipe (with MDPE pipe tied to it) where ever required inside casing pipe by jacking/ pushing method taking care not to damage the insulator, MDPE Pipe and coated carrier pipe, sealing the ends of the casing pipe, as per procedure given in specifications, with heat shrinkable wraparound type end seal of approved make, fixing of vent pipes at the ends of the casing pipe, priming and applying two coats of coal tar based epoxy paint on underground portion of vent pipes, measuring final resistance between carrier pipe and casing, and doing preparation work necessary to produce correct resistance, applying one coat of primer and two coats of epoxy paint to all exposed and overground fittings & piping, proper compaction of backfill below carrier pipe at either ends, independently supporting the carrier pipe outside each end of the casing pipe by suitable RCC supports on firm base with neoprene rubber sheet below carrier pipe and strengthening with sand bags and proper compaction of earth below pipe, to prevent settlement of carrier pipe and damage to insulators, final clean-up and restoration of the site and disposal of wastes and surplus in accordance with the contract and supply of all materials (other than those specifically undertaken to be supplied by the Owner under contract) necessary for or in the performance of the work or for temporary or permanent incorporation in the works, and all other acts, matters and things necessary to make the pipeline ready for commissioning in all respects. The work will include the provision of temporary supports for existing installations in the road, railroads and canals including provision of diversions, restoration of the canals/ road/ railroad/ embankment to its original state, maintenance for subsidence and all other precaution(s), work(s) and/ or maintenance expressed or implied in the contract. The work will also include providing necessary support to carrier pipe on either side, after coming out of casing, proper compaction of backfill below carrier pipe at either ends and strengthening with sand bags and/ or other suitable means, so as to prevent differential settlement of the casing pipe and damage to insulators including all labour, materials etc. as per direction of Site Engineer / Engineer-in-Charge. All materials (other than the Owner-supplied materials) required for performance of the work shall be supplied by the Contractor at his own cost. Installation of casing end seal shall be done by skilled personnel as per laid down procedure and as per demonstration to be done by manufacturer's representative (to be arranged by Contractor). Carrier pipe to be brought to the desired level of crossing by providing natural gradient to trench bottom from sufficient distance and avoiding field bends so as to keep provision for any future widening of Railway/ Highway etc. Supply of casing pipe of size 8" OD, 6.4 mm wall thk. of material API 5L Gr. B/ IS:3589 or equivalent ERW Pipe with minimum 2 mm PE tape externally coated is in contractors scope. Supply of casing pipe of size 12"/14" OD, 6.4/7.9 mm wall thk. of material API 5L Gr. B / IS:3589 or equivalent ERW Pipe with minimum 2 mm PE tape externally coated is in contractors scope.

SUBMERGED CROSSINGS WITH OR WITHOUT ANTI-BUOYANCY MEASURES Laying submerged crossings using pipes with or without concrete sheathing across major water course crossings and providing all works, labour, inputs and materials/ consumable necessary to perform and complete the work in all respects in accordance with the contract, including taking delivery and transportation of owner-supplied coated pipes to the work site from designated stockpile location, inspection of the coated pipes visually and with holiday detector for defects, arranging all necessary intermediate storage area required thereof till the pipes are installed in permanent position, arranging the required additional land for construction purpose, preparation of site, aligning, bending, lining up and welding the pipe, 100% radiographic inspection of weld joints, coating of field weld joints, holiday detection and repair of coating, hydro testing (both pre- & post-installation) and replacement of pipes/ defects, excavation of the trench to required depth, as per specifications, in all kinds of soil and conditions including rock trenching and maintenance of trench in all kinds of soil, mixed strata or rocky strata, if any, making bunds for stoppage of water flow, de-watering including installation of well-point system, and laying of the pipeline in approved trench, including de-watering, backfilling and final clean-up, stabilisation of the excavated banks by additional means, disposal of waste and surplus in accordance with the contract, and supply of materials (other than those specifically undertaken to be supplied by the Owner under the contract) necessary for or in the performance of the work or for temporary or permanent incorporation in the works and all other acts, matters and things necessary to complete the pipeline/ crossings in all respects according to the contract and as per directions of Site Engineer/ Engineer-in-Charge. Depending upon the site condition & location of each submerged crossing, the Engineer-in-Charge, in consultation with the Contractor, shall decide upon the precise operations necessary for the performance of the work to lay the pipeline across the canal/ drain/ rivers and the cost of all such operations necessary shall be deemed to have been included in the rate for this item. Profile of drain / canal bed, ground & top of laid pipe shall be established jointly in presence of Owner both before and after laying the crossing, by taking levels with reference to nearby permanent structure. The banks of the crossing shall be stabilised and suitable brick/ stone masonry bank protection works shall be carried out for the entire ROW width to prevent bank erosion leading to exposure of the pipeline. The procedure for such measures shall be submitted for Owner's approval prior to execution. Concrete sheathing work for submerged crossings shall be paid for separately under relevant item of Schedule of Rates. Continuous Concrete Coating - Supply of all consumables, materials and application of 25 mm-80 mm thk for various size of pipe, continuous concrete weight coating of minimum density 2245 kg/m3 of minimum grade M-20 and field joints thereof in all areas of work wherever required as per site condition and performing all works as per specification on the line pipe. Concrete Saddle Weights - Fabrication and installation of concrete saddle weights on pipeline including supply of all consumables and materials including supply of 3mm, HDPE sheets, and performing all works as per specifications, drawings, and instructions of Engineer-in-charge and other provisions of the Contract document.

The rating shall depend upon anticipated fault current & ground bed resistance at the location of installation. However, the rating of polarisation cell (krick) shall not be less than 5 KA & number of 20 kg net weight zinc anode shall not be less than two. Monitoring of the protection system for 6 months. All civil/ structural works related to TCP system including supply of bricks, cement & steel etc. required for completion of the system.
