Providing GI plate earthing including excavation of pit of size 2.00m x 2.00m x 3.00m depth in all kinds of soil including rocky strata and placing four numbers of GI plates of size 600 x 600 x 6.5 mm thick vertically in all the four corners of the excavated pit and inter connecting the plates with GI strips of size 50 x 3 mm with two nos of GI bolts and nuts of 10mm dia at each connection. To prevent ingress of moisture and soil, the joints are made water tight by covering with bitumen. A GI pipe of 50mm dia 3000mm long with holes at zigzag position at 100 mm interval with GI funnel at top shall be provided for watering the earth. 2nos of 50 x 3 mm GI strips shall be connected with any one of a GI plate electrode with GI bolts and nuts and a lead strip of 1mm thickness inbetween the joints. The GI strip will run vertically and be bent with a radius of 1m at a depth of about 30cm. below ground level to interconnect with other pit earth. After the electrodes are placed in position and all the interconnections made, the pit should be filled up with finely sieved good quality soil which should be rammed in layers so that it is compact and cohesive. The surplus excavated earth shall be disposed off as directed within a lead of 50metre. A precast RCC slab of size 530 x 530 x 75mm with 75mm ida hole at the centre to pass GI pipe in it shall be placed and a half brick masonry chamber of size 280 x 280 x 280mm shall be constructed over it. The chamber will be covered with GI manhole cover and frame of 300 x 300mm (the weight of cover being not less than 4.5kg and the frame not less than 2.7kg.) etc. complete as directed by the Engineer - in - charge. (The rate is inclusive of supplying required quantity of finely sieved good quality soil at site).

Providing and laying ring earth including excavation of trench of size 300 width x1000 to 1500 mm depth ( in rock minimum depth shall be 600mm) and laying 50 x 3 mm GI flat (with zinc 610gm/sqm) at the bottom as per drawing and then refilling with finely sieved good quality soil. The ring earth shall be connected to all the tower legs with GI strips 50 X 3 mm and with GI bolts and nuts at ends. Provision for connecting ring earth to the lightening arrestor shall be made by providing 50 X 3 mm GI strip one end of which is connected to the ring earth by means of GI bolts and nuts and other end left free above earth with necessary bolt holes.

Providing and fixing G.I. strips of 50 x 3mm size of approved quality one end connected to the bottom of lightening arrester and the other end connected to the ring earth/plate earth with 2nos. 10mm dia. G.I. bolts and nuts at every connection. The G.I. strip shall be clamped to the tower at uniform intervals at 1.50 m using necessary Porcelean insulator clamps with bolts and nuts to aviod direct contact with the tower, as directed by the Engineer-in-charge.

Hollow tube and of wall thickness not less than 1.60mm including tinning the bottom portion of the spike for a length of not less than 150mm and connecting to the G.I. strip of size 50 X 3 mm by means of clamps and 2 nos. 10 mm dia brass bolts and nuts all complete as directed by the Engineer-in- charge. The lightening spike shall be fixed to the tower with Teflon sheet to avoid direct contact with the tower.
