In order to have first hand information about the type of soil strata available at the site, Contractors are advised to visit the office of the Engineer-in-Charge to see the available bore log details. However and such information shall be got confirmed by the contractor at his own end before submitting the tender and department shall not be responsible for any variation in the type of soil strata. The quoted rates shall be applicable for all type of soil strata at the site. Nothing extra shall be paid in case of different soil strata encountered at the site during sinking of well. The quoted rate shall include cost of any remedial measure to bring the tilt or shift within permissible value to the satisfaction of the Engineer-in-Charge, in case of a well developing tilt or shift beyond the specified permissible value i.e. 1 in 80 and 150 mm respectively. In case the resultant tilt and or shift of any well exceeds 1 in 50 and 300 mm respectively the well shall be regarded as not conforming to the specifications and a sub-standard work. In such case if Engineer-in-Charge rejects the well, the contractor shall dismantle the rejected well to the extent directed by the Engineer-in-Charge and remove the debris at his own cost. Further the contractor shall, at his own risk and expense complete the work with modifications acceptable to the Engineer-in-Charge. If the foundation of the structure is in an area with stagnant water or water is met with in the excavation due to sping seepage rain and other causes, it shall be remove by suitable diversion bailing out or pumping as directed and the area of the foundation or embankment shall be kept dry. Any loss to the public or private property during the course of excavation shall be the whole responisibility of the contractor which shall have to be duly compensated by him at his own cost in all cases.
