Goa International Airport commonly known as Dabolim Airport serves as the primary civil airport for the state of Goa. It is situated just before the entry to the town of Vasco which is approximately in the middle of Goa, the airport benefits from being sufficiently close to the state capital Panaji and also within an hour's drive from major tourist places both in North and South Goa. The primary industrial estates of Sancoale, Verna, Corlim, Margao, Mapusa etc. are also within 1 hour drive from the airport. Tourism is the most important industry for Goa with it contributing ~20% to the state GDP. Foreign tourists, mostly from Europe, arrive in Goa in winter whilst the summer and monsoon seasons see a large number of Indian tourists.
