Background Oral Health Is A Critical Component For Healthy Ageing; It Is A Foundation Of Quality Of Life, Is Closely Associated With Ncds, And Contributes To Preventing Frailty. Oral Function, Such As Chewing And Swallowing Ability Is Especially Important For Older Adults To Be Able To Take Nutrition And Communicate In Society. As The Western Pacific Region’s Population Ages Rapidly, There Has Been A Growing Interest To Promote Oral Health To Support Healthy Ageing. Despite The Importance Of Oral Function, There Is A Lack Of Information On Oral Function Among Older Adults In The Philippines, Malaysia And Vietnam. There Is Information On The Burden Of Oral Diseases, Such As Dental Caries And Periodontal Disease, But Not Sufficient Information On Oral Function. Therefore, This Survey Aims To Understand The Oral Function Among Older Adults In The Philippines, Malaysia And Vietnam. In Addition, Maintaining Functional Teeth Is Critical To Support Healthy Longevity. In Western Pacific Region (wpr), The Burden Of Oral Disease Is High Which Results In A High Burden Of Tooth Loss Among Older Adults. The Majority Of Wpr Countries Report More Than 30% Of Older Adults Aged 65-89 Years Old Suffer From Complete Loss Of Teeth In 2019. Furthermore, This Reported That The Prevalence Of Edentulism Among Older Adults Aged 65-89 Years Was Especially High In Mongolia (45%), New Zealand (42%), Kiribati (39%), Compared To Japan (26%). Japan Took A Prompt Initiative To Prevent Tooth Loss For Healthy Longevity. In 1989, Japan’s Ministry Of Health And Welfare Launched The “8020 Campaign” To Ensure More Than Half Of The Population Over The Age Of 80 Retain 20 Or More Teeth By The Year 2022. To Achieve “8020”, Japan Developed And Implemented Various Policies, Guidelines, And Activities. The Target Was Achieved In 2016 By Increasing The Proportion Of The Population From 7% (in 1989) To 51% (in 2016) Who Retain 20 Teeth At The Age Of 80 Years Old. The Second Study Aims To Assess The Implementation Status Of Japanese Oral Health Policy. Analyzing How Japan Has Promoted Maintaining Functioning Teeth And Prevented Tooth Loss Is Valuable For Other Wpr Countries To Promote Oral Health For Healthy Ageing   Purpose/specific Objective Of The Activity The Healthy Ageing Unit Seeks A Research Team To Conduct A. An Oral Function Survey Among Older Adults In The Philippines, Malaysia And Vietnam, And B. Policy Analysis On The Implementation Status Of Oral Health Policy In Japan.   Description Of Activities To Be Carried Out Oral Function Survey Output 1: Identify Research Questions For Oral Functions Among Older Adults Through Literature Search, And Background Information From Target Countries (existing Data), And Prepare For Research Implementation.
