Background Ncds Are The Leading Cause Of Death In The Cook Islands. According To The 2015 Steps Survey, The Current Smoking (includes Both Daily And Non-daily Smokers) Prevalence Rate Among Adults Age 18-64 Years In The Cook Islands Is 37.9% Among Males And 27.7% Among Females. The Cook Islands Has Made Significant Strides In Strengthening Tobacco Control Since Becoming A Party To The Who Framework Convention On Tobacco Control In 2005 Including Increasing Price And Tax On Tobacco, Which Has Helped To Increase Demand For Tobacco Cessation Services. The Cook Islands Has Followed New Zealand Tobacco Cessation Guidelines, However, There Is No Standardized Mechanism For Capacity Building For Health Care Providers Using Those Materials. Planed Timelines – Start Date: 16 August 2021 End Date: 30 November 2021   Purpose/specific Objective Of The Activity The Purpose Of This Activity Is To: 1) Establish A Standardized Training For Tobacco Cessation Service Delivery (including Training Materials And Assessments), 2) Facilitate Training Of Trainers For Primary Health Care Workers And Health-related Ngo Staff, 3) Develop Tobacco Cessation Referral Pathway Options For Expansion Of Services, And 4) Develop A Monitoring Mechanism For Implementation Tobacco Cessation Services In The Cook Islands.   Description Of Activities To Be Carried Out • Develop A Training Package For Primary Health Care Service Providers • Facilitate A Series Of Training For Primary Health Care Providers Including Ngos Providing Ncd Prevention Services • Draft Options For Tobacco Cessation Referral Pathways Appropriate For The Cook Islands’ Context. • Consult With Primary Health Care Providers To Develop A Monitoring Mechanism And/or Tools For Implementation Of Tobacco Cessation Services In The Cook Islands.   Methods To Carry Out The Activity Output 1: Tobacco Cessation Guidelines And Referral Pathway Options For The Cook Islands. Deliverable 1.1: A Copy Of The Tobacco Cessation Guidelines Which Summarizes Impact Of Tobacco Use, Brief Tobacco Intervention, Treatment Options, Assessment Tools, Guidelines For Using Nicotine Replacement Therapy Product, Etc. Deliverable 1.2: A Summary Document Outlining Referral Mechanisms For Tobacco Cessation Within The Cook Islands Health Care System (including Any Moh Partner Ngos). Output 2: Tobacco Cessation Services Training Package And Materials For Primary Health Care Providers And Ngos Providing Ncd Prevention Services Developed Deliverable 2.1: E-copies Of Tobacco Cessation Services Training Materials Based On The Tobacco Cessation Guidelines (output 1), Including A Guide For Training Of Trainers Output 3: Deliver Training Of Trainers And Oversee Tobacco Cessation Training Sessions For Health Care Providers And Ngo Representatives (note: May Be Facilitated Remotely) Deliverable 3.1: A Training Of Trainer Summary Report Deliverable 3.1: A Tobacco Cessation Training Summary Report Including Feedback And Recommendations For Future Training. Deliverable 4.2: Tools For Monitoring Referrals, Services Rendered (including Nicotine Replacement Therapies Prescribed), And Patient Status; Including Interface With Existing Moh Health Information Systems.   Qualifications & Experience Education Essential:  a Degree In Public Health, Medicine, Nursing, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Or Related Field.   Experience Essential: At Least 2 Years Of Experience Related To Tobacco Cessation. Desirable: Experience With Providing Tobacco Cessation Training.
