Background Digital Technology Is An Increasingly Important Tool For Health. The Digital World Enables Accessing Health Information And Health Services And Serves As A Platform For Tools To Collect Health Data And Support Health Behaviour Change. Further, Digital Technologies Can Contribute To Health Indirectly Through Established Social Determinants Of Health “routes”. For Example, Online Communities And Communication Technologies Are Increasingly Used To Facilitate Social Connections And Activities. Covid-19 Has Amplified The Importance Of Bridging The Digital Divide For Older People, This Demographic Being Particularly Susceptible To Both Covid-19 And The Negative Health, Economic And Social Consequences Of Response Measures To The Pandemic. As Health And Society Become Increasingly Reliant On Technology, Digitally Marginalized Populations, Such As Older People, Are At Risk Of Being Left Further Behind. Digital Access Is A Cornerstone Of The Healthy Ageing Unit’s Vision Of Societies Of The Future, With Digital Tools Becoming Mediators For Community Integrated Care Services And Vectors For Personalized Medicine For Older People. Without Drastic Improvements In Digital Access, Further Innovation Risks Exacerbating Inequalities For Older People.   Purpose/specific Objective Of The Activity The Purpose Of This Work Is To Develop Key Material To Promote Digital Inclusion Of Older People In The Western Pacific Region With A Focus On The Private Sector Role. This Material Will Be Disseminated At Different Multi-sectoral Knowledge Sharing Opportunities. This Work Will Support The Healthy Ageing Unit In Promoting The Digital Inclusion Of Older People In The Western Pacific Region.   Description Of Activities To Be Carried Out Output 1. A Report To Support Advocacy And Implementation Of Policies For Bridging The Digital Divide For Older People. This Should Include Examples And Perspectives As Relevant To Diverse Regional Country Contexts, Including At Least One Pacific Island Country. Deliverable 1.1 The First Part Of The Report Will Summarize Key Evidence And Arguments To Make A Case For Expanding Older People’s Use Of Digital Technology With An Emphasis On Health Benefits.  Deliverable 1.2 The Second Part Of The Report Will Summarize Key Evidence On Existing Barriers To Expanding Older People’s Use Of Digital Technology And Innovative Approaches To Overcome Those Barriers. Deliverable 1.3 The Final Part Of The Report Will Focus On Best Practices Employed By The Government, Private Sector And Ngos To Improve Access And Use Of Digital Technologies For Older People. Example Practices Include The Training Of Vendors And Specific Support Mechanisms To Local Groups. Output 2. Preparations For An International Forum For Multi-sectorial Regional Knowledge Sharing On Bridging The Digital Divide For Older People. Forum Participants Will Include Stakeholders From Healthy Ageing Priority Countries. Deliverable 2.1 Draft Invitations To Key Players (profit And Not-for-profit Organizations) To Share Successful Case Studies (at National, Provincial, Municipal, Community Levels). Deliverable 2.2 Develop Communication Materials To Disseminate Key Report Findings And Best Practices.   Methods To Carry Out The Activity The Contractor Will Perform Desk Research Including Grey And Academic Literature Reviews, Data Analysis And Remote Interview/surveys As Needed. No Physical Travel Needed For Forum Preparations. Progress And Findings Should Be Regularly Presented To The Healthy Ageing Unit.   Qualifications & Experience Experience The Company / Agency / Institution Should Reflect Demonstrated Experience In Digital Inclusion Initiatives And Preferably Good Knowledge Of The Western Pacific Region.   Technical Skills & Knowledge The Company / Agency / Institution Should Have Advanced Research Skills Related To Access To Technology. Knowledge And Skills In Research On Digital Inclusion Specific To The Context Of Older People Is An Asset.   Languages Fluent In Written And Spoken English.
