Background Since The Start Of The Covid-19 Epidemic, The Who Has Collaborated With Partners To Develop A Set Of Standard Master Protocols Branded As “unity” For Early Serological And Epidemiological Investigations To Inform The Public Health Response. The Aim Of The Unity Investigations Is To Enable Countries To Gather Rapidly Robust Data On Key Epidemiological Parameters To Understand The Covid-19 Pandemic Using Generic Protocols And Questionnaires Which Can Be Adapted To The Local Setting. Using Standardized Protocols And Questionnaires Facilitates The Aggregation, Tabulation And Comparison Of Studies From Different Countries. In Addition To Funding Support, Who Provides Epidemiological And Laboratory Technical Support Through The Review Of Protocols And The Provision Of Tools And Guidance For National Studies. In The Western Pacific Region, There Are Over 10 Collaborating Countries For Unity Which Have Begun Implementing One Or More Unity Protocols. Additionally, A Key Source Of Information Necessary To Inform The Public Health Response Is Modelling. In March 2020, The Division For Data, Strategy And Innovation (dsi) Established A Consortium Of Modellers To Support Mathematic Modelling To Improve Understanding Of The Covid-19 Epidemic In The Region And Better Inform Member States’ Decision Making. The Current Partnerships For Modelling Include Academic And Research Institutions From Within The Region Who Have Worked Closely With In-country Modellers In Malaysia And The Philippines With The Aim To Build Capacity. Additionally, Modelling Support Including Those Provided Through Other Sources Of Funding Has Been Provided To Member States In The Pacific Islands And Mekong Regions. An Epidemiologist Is Being Contracted To Support The Regional Focal Point For Covid-19 Unity. The Sero-epidemiological Studies And Modelling Activities Are Overseen By Dsi, Through The Regional Focal Point For Unity And Modelling. The Modelling Work Has Recently Been Integrated As An Auxiliary Function Into The Information And Planning Pillar Of The Incident Management Support Team (world Health Emergency Division) So That Modelling Results Can Be Used Alongside The Information And Planning Products To Support Countries’ Covid-19 Responses. In Addition To Covid-19 Activities, 10% Of The Consultant’s Responsibilities Will Be To Support The Regional Focal Point For Covid-19 Unity And Modelling In Her Other Role As Regional Advisor For Strategic Information For Hiv And Hepatitis. The Consultant Will Help Monitor And Update Data On The Progress Of Hiv And Hepatitis In The Region. These Activities Fall Under The Hiv, Hepatitis And Sti Unit, Division Of Programmes For Disease Control.   Purpose/specific Objective Of The Activity To Provide Support To The Who Wpro Regional Focal Point For Covid-19 Unity And Modelling In Her Other Role As Regional Advisor For Strategic Information For Hiv And Hepatitis. The Consultant Will Help Monitor And Update Data On The Progress Of Hiv And Hepatitis In The Region.   Description Of Activities And Methods To Be Carried Out The Consultant Will Support The Regional Focal Point For The Unity And Modelling For The Covid-19 Response. Assist The Regional Focal Point With Unity Sero-epidemiological Studies (60% Of Tor) Liaising With Unity Collaborating Government And Research Institutions To Obtain Updates On The Progress Of Their Studies Follow Up With Who Country Offices And Collaborating Institutions To Monitor Funding, Epidemiological And Laboratory Support Reviewing Protocols To Ensure That They Align With The Unity Standard Protocols. Processing Administrative Paperwork For Service Agreements With Research Institutions Review And Analyze Bibliography Of Published Results, Conduct Literature Review And Update Briefing Notes And Prepare Presentations As Needed On Sero-epi Study Results Attend Routine Global Webinars On Sero-epi Investigations Provide The Regional Focal Point With Coordination Support For Modelling Activities (30% Of Tor) Liaise With Country Office Focal Points And Attend Monitoring Meetings To Ensure Modelling Activities Meet National Needs Review And Provide Input On Modelling Reports Attend Routine Meetings With The Information And Planning Pillar Of The Imst And Routine Global Webinars On Modelling As Needed Assist The Regional Strategic Information Advisor For Hiv, Hepatitis And Sti In Monitoring Hiv And Hepatitis Progress (10% Of Tor) Updating Hiv Website With Latest Data Liaise With Country Hiv And Hepatitis Focal Points To Support Countries In Reporting To The Global Aids Monitoring And Global Reporting For Viral Hepatitis. Other Duties As Assigned   Qualifications And Experience Education: University Degree In Medicine, Business Management Or Other Relevant Degree In Social Or Natural Sciences.  Desirable: Master's Degree Or Above In Management, Business Administration And/or Public Health. Previous Work With Who, Other International Organizations And/or Major Institutions. Experience: At Least Five Years’ Experience On The Following Fields: Experience In Conducting Epidemiological Studies Knowledge Of Basic Biostatistics Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills Preferable Experience Coordinating Or Supporting Mathematic Modelling And Academic Or Work Experience In Hiv Or Hepatitis Experience In Programme Management Technical Skills And Knowledge Excellent Report Writing Skills And Data Analysis. Excellent Knowledge Of The Dynamics Of International Public Health Work. Excellent People And Communication Skills (oral And Written). Ability To Work Effectively And Deliver Outputs In A Timely Manner. Languages Excellent Knowledge Of Spoken And Written English Is Essential.
