Background Who In The Western Pacific Region Has Been Implementing A New Approach That Would Support The Development Of More Strategic, Meaningful And Relevant Cooperation With Countries In The Medium-term.  This Process Has Been Further Enriched In Consideration Of The Thirteenth General Programme Of Work (gpw13) And The For The Future Vision Of The Region. The Country Support Unit, Under The Division Of Programme Management, Coordinates And Provides Technical Support To Strengthen The Strategic Partnership Between Who And Its Member States In The Western Pacific Region.  Csu Further Supports Effective Functioning Of Who Country Offices In The Region, Coordinates Who's Strategic Planning At Country Level And Supports Who Country Offices' Engagement With Other Agencies And Partners.  Currently, Csu Is Also Coordinating The Work On Who Collaborating Centres As Well As The Region's Fellowship Programme And The Pacific Open Learning Health Net.  Csu Is Likewise Coordinating And Monitoring The Implementation Of The Region’s Funds From The Government Of Japan. The Proposed Consultancy Will Support The Various Works Of Csu Which Would Involve Document Review, Report Preparation And Coordination.   Purpose/specific Objective Of The Activity The Purpose Of The Consultancy Is To Contribute To The Ongoing Work Of Ensuring That Strategic Country Support Is Provided To Member States In The Region Which Will Include Preparation Of Documents And Other Relevant Materials, And To Support Liaising And Coordinating With Counterparts.  the Consultant Is Expected To Specifically Work On Projects Related To Japan.   Description Of Activities To Be Carried Out The Work Will Involve Multiple Pieces Of Work, Which Will Be Periodically Discussed And Prioritised With Csu, In The Following Areas: • To Assist Csu And Technical Units In Preparing Donor Reports (due 30 June) And Other Related Monitoring. • To Research And Identify Related Information In Japanese On Current Situations, Data And Health Issues, And To Support Preparation Of Technical Presentations (in Japanese And/or English) Related To These Issues, And • To Develop A Draft Framework For Supporting The Longer-term Development Of Nurses In Japan That Will Facilitate Their Greater Engagement With International Health Issues And Agencies.   Methods To Carry Out The Activity The Consultant Will Work Closely With The Technical Officer, Partnerships In Technical Cooperation, Country Support Unit, And Under The Supervision Of The Executive Officer, Country Support Unit.  Various Methods Will Be Used To Ensure That Outputs/deliverables Are Addressed In An Efficient And Timely Manner.  This Work Will Involve Regular Virtual Interaction With Relevant Csu Team Members To Discuss And Coordinate The Work Being Delivered, To Assist With The Monitoring And Reporting Of Donor Agreements, And To Support Csu In Its Liaison With The Relevant Agencies In Japan.   Qualifications & Experience Education Background In Public Health, Social Sciences And Other Related Courses.   Experience • Minimum Of Two Years' Experience In Public Health. • Work Experience In Ngos, Government Institutions In Japan And Un Agencies Are Desirable.   Skills / Technical Skills And Knowledge • Good Coordination And Liaisons Skills With Government Institutions, Ngos And Un Agencies.   Language • English: advanced Level In Speaking And Writing • Japan: advanced Level In Speaking And Writing   Competencies • Communication • Teamwork • Producing Results   Additional Information: • The Consultancy Work Will Be Done Virtually. • The Selected Consultant Will Be Expected To Provide A Medical Certificate Of Fitness For Work. • Duration Of Contract Is For 4.5 Months Starting 1 June 2021   Applications Qualified And Interested Specialists Should Submit Their Cv {for Individual Contractors} Or Company Profile {for Institutional Applications} And Expression Of Interest {cover Letter} To The Supply Officer Through Wp Ro Ungm At < Wproungm@who.int > By 22 May 2021.  The Cover Letter Should Outline How Their Experience And Qualifications Make Them A Suitable Candidate For This Position And Should Include Their Proposed Daily Consultancy Fee And Availability.
