Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority Tender

Tenders are invited for Tsp Wayside Equipment Configuration, Installation Transit Signal Priority allows for extended green phases or shorter red phases for Metrobuses at almost 250 intersections in the District of Columbia and in Falls Church and Alexandria, Virginia. Currently, Metrobuses communicate with the intersections using 3G cellular communication to antennas, modems, and phase selectors located in the traffic signal cabinet; the phase selector communicates with the traffic controller to grant priority to buses. In February 2022, AT&T will discontinue all 3G service, before which time, WMATA will need to upgrade approximately 70 intersections in Virginia to 4G modems and antennas. In addition to configuring and installing 4G equipment in Northern Virginia, WMATA may also need to repair or replace equipment in the field from time to time. Finally, WMATA is coordinating actively with other jurisdictions in the region to identify new corridors for TSP. As these plans are finalized, there may be additional corridors and intersections that would need equipment configured, installed, and maintained.
