This Amendment Answers The Following Vendor Question: i Have A Questions Regarding The Quantity Of Glycol To Be Used Per Site, The Amounts Are Over Estimated, In My Opinion. There Is A Contradiction Here Between Part A And Part C (see Below In Red) 1. Did The Site Give You The Capacity Of Gallons Of Fluid (water And Glycol Mixture) For The Entire System?ãâ 2. Can The Site(s) Tell Us How Much Glycol We Need Per Mechanical Space Per Location 3. I Would Request The Site Give Better Ballpark Numbers, Instead Of The What The Capacity Of The Piping Can Holdãâ 4. The Amount Of Glycol Needed Seems Wasteful And Unnecessary, If You Just Drain Each Coil After Circulating The Glycol Solution The Amount Should Go Way Down, But The Site Needs To Give Better Information. 5. Another Solution Would Be In The Future To Leave The Glycol In The System All Year Around To Eliminate Steps Of Draining And Filling Very Year.ãâ a.3.1.3 Annual Preventative Maintenance Services a)ãâ ãâ ãâ Provide All Services Listed In Section A.3.1.2 Quarterly Preventative Maintenance Services In Addition To The Following Tasks: 3.ãâ ãâ ãâ ãâ Winterize All Water Filled Chill Water Coils. The Cor Will Determine The Timing For The Winterization Based On The Weather Forecast And Also Which Coils Will Be Exempt From Winterizing. To Winterize Coils, The Following Guideline Will Generally Apply: a.ãâ ãâ ãâ ãâ Close Chilled Water Supply And Return Valves To The Coil. b.ãâ ãâ ãâ ãâ Open Drain Line And Vent And Drain The Water To The Nearest Drain. c.ãâ ãâ ãâ ãâ Connect Hoses To Drain Line, Vent, Container Of Glycol And A Pump In Order To Circulate propylene Glycol Throughout The Coil. Freeze Protection Of Glycol Must Be At Least -20ãâ° F. Circulate The Glycol Through The Coil For At Least Ten Minutes To Ensure All Areas Of The Coil Are Saturated. This Tells Me That The Glycol Can Be Reused d.ãâ ãâ ãâ ãâ When Circulation Of The Glycol Is Completed, Drain The Coil By Reclaiming The Glycol For Use On The Next Coil. e.ãâ ãâ ãâ ãâ Leave Drain And Vent Valves In The Open Position. f.ãâ ãâ ãâ ãâ ãâ Test The Reclaimed Glycol Before Using On The Next Coil To Ensure Protection Against Freezing To At Least -40 F. Adjust Concentration Of Glycol As Necessary. g.ãâ ãâ ãâ ãâ Clean Up Any Spill That Occurred During Winterization. h.ãâ ãâ ãâ ãâ Report To Cor/utility Shop Foreman If Any Valve Does Not Positively Stop The Flow Of Chilled Water To The Coil Being Winterized. 1)ãâ ãâ ãâ ãâ ãâ ãâ ãâ ãâ ãâ ãâ ãâ ãâ ãâ ãâ ãâ ãâ ãâ Ãâ utility Shop Personnel Shall Reactivate The Coil If And When Needed And Re-winterize If Necessary c)ãâ ãâ In The Month Of July, Unless Instructed Otherwise By Cor,ãâ The Contractor Shall Drain All Glycol Heating Systems Into Containers For Reuse (this Tells Me That Theãâ glycolãâ will Not Be Drained In The Winter Months But Circulated). Inspect Glycol For Reusability And Replace If Necessary. Chemically Clean Each System Following Manufactures Recommendations. Drain Chemically Treated Water And Refill Using Saved Or New Propylene Glycol. Add Glycol As Necessary To Maintain A 30% Glycol And 70% Water Mix. Strainers That Are Affected On The Air Handlers Of Each Glycol Heating System Shall Be Removed, Cleaned And Reinstalled.ãâ answer: The Amounts Are Over Estimated Due To Insufficient Data Pertaining To The Systems. Calculations Were Based On Refilling Empty Heating Systems. As Far As Winterization Goes, Yes When Winterizing You Can Reuse The Same Glycol To Winterize Multiple Units. So I Would Say (3) 55 Gal Drums Of Glycol. all Other Terms And Conditions Remain The Same.
