Provision To Contract A Local Company For Supply, Delivery, Installation And Configuration Of A Video Evidence Recording System At Galle Ncpa Unit. & The National Child Protection Authority (ncpa) Is The Main Government Institution That Implements Overall Initiatives To Address Violence Against Children In Sri Lanka. One Of The Significant Challenges In Seeking Justice For Child Victims Of Violation Is Secondary Victimization. This Occurs When Children Are Repeatedly Required To Recount Their Traumatic Experiences To Different Players In The Criminal Justice System. This Process Can Be Retraumatizing For Children. Recording Of The Story Divulged By Children And Preserving It As Evidence Will Contribute To A Reduction Of The Secondary Trauma Of These Children. Accordingly, In 2011, Ncpa Established A Video Evidence Recording Unit To Facilitate Timely Evidence Recording And Minimize The Secondary Victimization Of A Child Victim. Subsequently, Another Regional Center Was Opened At The Ragama Teaching Hospital In 2022. For The Year 2023 Alone, Ncpa Received 255 Requests For This Facility Connected To Child Abuse Incidents/cases. Recognizing The High Demand And Importance Of This Initiative, The Board Of Directors Of Ncpa Decided To Expand This Facility By Establishing Nine Video Evidence Recording Units Attached To Selected Hospitals At The Provincial Level. The Cabinet Of Minister Has Also Granted Its Approval For This Requirement In 2021. To Ensure More Accessible And Timely Justice For Children, Ncpa With The Technical Assistance Of Unicef Under The Support To Justice Sector Project (jure) Funded By The European Union Aims To Establish A New Video Evidence Recording Centre In Galle. In This Context, Unicef Sri Lanka Seeks A Company/team To Support The Establishment Of Child Friendly Video Evidence Recording Unit With Necessary Audio-visual Equipment In Galle.
