Design contest: Polygon scanner for laser micromachining The Fraunhofer Institute for Material and Beam Technology IWS would like to purchase an industrially stable polygon scanner for laser micro-processing with the following performance requirements. The polygon scanner for laser microprocessing is intended as a mobile system for various laser systems such as B. short pulse laser systems with a medium power of up to 300 W / IR and ultra-short pulse laser systems with a medium power of up to 1 kW / IR can be used. The optical and mechanical properties of the polygon scanner system should be adaptable for different focal lengths (F theta optics). For integration in the electrical communication circuits and in system controls for Industry 4.0 applications and applications for artificial intelligence, the system must have open, fully documented interfaces. In the context of this tender, an industry-stable polygon scanner for the wavelength - infrared IR ~ 1030 nm to 1070 nm - is to be commissioned for micro material processing. This polygon scanner in compact design should be suitable for the use of short pulse lasers and ultrashort pulse lasers (pulse energy: up to 5 mJ; pulse duration: ns - fs; pulse repetition rates: kHz - 100 MHz) and scan speeds of at least 700 m / s (with optical focal lengths of approx. 400 mm). Application suitability for high-speed applications in real time for 2D, 2.5D and 3D processing is assumed. Flexible combinability with standard plan field optics is required. So that the system can also work over a large area independently of external axis systems, it should have an additional axis for beam deflection transverse to the polygon axis. The system can be delivered with flat field optics of up to approx. 400 mm focal length - options. Great emphasis is placed on high precision in terms of positioning and repeat accuracy. That is why the control of the scanner and laser should also take place in real time, coordinated with external movement systems. Due to the specifics of the work at Fraunhofer IWS, the polygon scanner for 2D and 2.5D removal processes such as B. cutting, structuring, marking and drilling and equipped with software suitable for these purposes (processing of bitmap, vector and 3D data). Additional control tools that are suitable for the subtractive production of 2.5D components can be offered as an option. The system is operated under the following environmental conditions and must meet these: - temperature from 18 - 25oC; no clean room. The contractor is obliged to commission the polygon scanner on site and to carry out any necessary system instructions. A complete acceptance of the system takes place after commissioning and delivery of the complete documentation including the operating instructions in German and English.
