General Requirements I. Mobilization/demobilization • The Work Consists Of The Mobilization And Demobilization Of The Contractor’s Forces And Equipment Necessary For Performing The Work Required Under The Contract. Ii. Permits And Licenses • Process And Submit Building Permit, Structural Design Review Including Sign And Seal Of Structural Plans, Electrical Review, Analysis, Computations And Signature Of Pee On Electrical Plans, And Occupancy Permit. Iii. Temporary Facilities • Temporary Facilities Shall Be Provided During The Construction Period And Will Be Constructed Within The Hospital Compound, Which Shall Serve As The Field Office, Storage Of Materials And Bunkhouse For The Workers. The Contractor Shall Provide And Maintain Temporary Power & Lighting, Temporary Water Service & Security Within The Construction Site. Iv. Health, Safety & Environment Control (complete Ppe, Safety Equipment & Devices & Safety Accessories And Signages) V. As-built (record) Drawings & Related Documents • Submit One (1) Completed Set Of Signed And Sealed As-built Plans (whiteprint Copy) • Submit One (1) Set Of Electronic Files Of Signed And Sealed As-built Plans (cadd Editable File) • The Drawings Shall Be Supplemented With Descriptive Specification As Appropriate To Clearly Record The Exact Form And Content Of Work Described In This Specification And On The Drawings. • Maintain A Complete And Accurate Record Of All Changes Or Deviations To The Contract Documents And Shop Drawings In The Trade Contractor’s Field Office. Such Record Copy Shall Indicate The Work As Actually Constructed And Be Available For Hospital Appointed Engineer To Review. • Incorporate All Minor Revisions And Clarifications Noted Thru The Field Modification Process Which May Not Necessarily Be Shown On The Architectural Drawings Or Issued As Addenda, Bulletins, Or Change Orders. • Field Changes Shall Be Neatly And Correctly Shown On One Set Of Record Prints On A Daily Basis By The Foreman, Or Superintendent Of Each Trade; And This Set Will Act As A Record Set At Completion Of The Work And Is Intended To Be Of Assistance To The Trade Contractor In Preparing Record Documents. Use Of Rain Water Will Not Be Permitted. • All Materials Shall Be Free From Clay, Lumps Or Any Deleterious Object Or Matter That Will Impair The Strength Of Concrete. • Mixing Shall Be Thoroughly Done In A Mixer Of An Approved Size And Type To Insure A Uniform Distribution Of The Materials Throughout The Mass. • Site-mixed Concrete (job Mixed Concrete) - All Structural Concrete Shall Be Machine-mixed For At Least 1 ½ Minutes After All Materials Including Water Are In The Mixing Drum. Concrete In Girders, Beams And Slabs In Superstructures Shall Be Poured In A Monolithic And Continuous Manner. No Construction Joint Shall Be Allowed On Any Part Of The Structure Without The Approval Of The Hospital Engineer. • Slump Of Concrete Shall Not Exceed 3 Inches • Placement Of Concrete Shall Be In Accordance To Standard Norms, When Using Portable Concrete Mixers. • Cure Concrete Sprinkling Water And Wetted Continuously For 7-day Period. Ii.4. Steel Reinforcements • Steel Reinforcements Shall Be Astm A615, Deformed Steel Bars, Grade 60. • Supply, Fabricate And Install Reinforcing Steel As Shown On Drawings. Placing Of Steel Reinforcements Shall Be In Accordance With Current Industry (local) Code (or Aci-347). • Secure The Reinforcements Using #16 G.i. Tie Wires. • Steel Reinforcement Shall Be Provided Together With All The Necessary Tie Wires, Spacers, Support And Other Necessary Devices. Reinforcing Steel Shall Be Accurately Cut And Bent In Accordance With The Approved Detailed Reinforcement Drawings. The Hospital Engineer May Require The Contractor To Prepare And Submit Bar Cutting Schedule Prior To Fabrication Of Reinforcing Steel Bars. • Steel Reinforcements Shall Be Free From Mill Scales, Rusts, Oils, Contamination That Will Impair The Bonding Property To Concrete. Ii.5. Formworks • All Forms Shall Be Designed By The Contractor For A Safe Construction Activity And Installed To Dimensions Shown On The Drawings. • Use Phenolic Boards On Formworks With Shoring Supports. • Forms Shall Be Used Whenever Necessary To Confine The Concrete And Shape It To The Required Lines And Dimensions, Or To Protect The Concrete From Contamination. Forms Shall Have Sufficient Strength To Withstand The Pressure Resulting From Placement And Vibration Of The Concrete, And Shall Be Maintained Rigidly In Correct Position. Forms Shall Be Sufficiently Tight To Prevent Loss Of Mortar From The Concrete. • Stripping Of Forms Shall Only Commence After The Concrete Has Gained Sufficient Strength (min Of 7 Days) For Major Structural Elements. Substrate Preparation Shall Meet The Requirements Of The Applicable Clauses Of The Steel Structures Painting Council, For Industrial Type Of Construction. All Surfaces Shall Be Free From Mill Scale, Rusts, Oils Or Any Contaminants Detrimental To Adhesion Of Paint. • Welding Works Shall Be In Accordance With Structural Welding Code (american Welding Society-d1.1, Latest Edition). Welding Electrodes Shall Be E6013 And E6012, Minimum, Meeting The Requirements Of Aws A.5. All Welders Shall Meet The Qualifications Under The Aws Codes And Standards. • All Works Under This Item Shall Be Subject To Verification By The Engineer Prior To Commencement Of Fabrication. Contractor Is To Submit Shop Drawings For Architect’s/engineer’s Review Prior To Execution. • Roof Framing Roof Framings/rafters Shall Be Constructed, Erected, And Properly Anchored To The Roof Beams Or Columns As Indicated In Drawings. Ii.7. Steel Ramp Modification • Work Includes But Is Not Limited To: - Areas As Specified On Supplied Drawings - Removal And Reinstallation Of Steel Decking - Removal, Modification, And Re-installation Of Steel Ramp To New Location (w/ Chemical Bolt) - Scaffoldings Ii.8. Gravitational Hazards • Fall Prevention Is Required In Situations With Possibility Of A Fall Or 2 Meters Or Higher. Adequate Provisions Such As Barricades, Nets, Cover, Rails, Etc. Shall Protect The Workers On The Roof, On Scaffolds And Or Elevated Platforms. • All Work Platforms, Suspended Or Otherwise, Shall Conform To Statutory Regulations. • All Working Platforms Shall Be Closely Boarded, Planked Or Constructed In Metal Decking. • Strip Formworks And The Like (timber, Plank, Plywood, Etc.) Shall Not Be Used As A Stage For Working Platform. • Defective Scaffolds Shall Not Be Used. • Bamboos Or Bamboo Poles Are Not Allowed Or Permitted To Be Used On Site. • All Deep Excavations Shall Be Provided With Adequate Safety Railings And No Materials Or Equipment Shall Be Stored As Close To The Excavation Edge. • Buildings Under Construction Where The Height Is Above 15 Meters Shall Be Provided With Peripheral Overhead Protection. Except For The Designated Entrance/exit Point, Other Areas At Ground Level Shall Be Guarded From Inadvertent Entry. At Building Entry/exit Points, Adequate Overhead Protection Shelters Shall Be Provided To Ensure A Safe Means Of Access And Egress To The Workers Workplace. C. Architectural Works Furnish Materials And Labor And All Incidentals Necessary For The Completion Of All Architectural Works Shown On Drawings And As Herein Specified. I. Moisture Protection – Cold Fluid Applied Waterproofing • Work Includes But Is Not Limited To: C.1.1. Waterproofing Of All Toilet Floors C.1.2. Waterproofing Of Roof Deck • Project Conditions: C.1.3. Proceed With Waterproofing Operations Only After Substrate Construction And Penetrating Work Have Been Completed. C.1.4. Proceed With Waterproofing Operations Only When Existing And Forecast Weather Conditions Will Permit Work To Be Performed In Accordance With Manufacturer’s Recommendations. • Product: C.1.5. Single-component, Bitumen-modified, Polyurethane Based Liquid Membrane Material, Self-bonding To Substrates And Compounded Specifically For Application And Slope Of Substrate Indicated, Minimum 60 Dry Mils (1.50mm Thick). Provide Membrane Tested By The Manufacturer To Comply With The Requirements Of Astm C 836. C.1.6. Product Should Specifically Show By Laboratory Test Result That It Complies With Astm C 8365 Requirement For Extensibility After Heat Aging Test, Minimum 6.4mm No Cracking Test For Extensibility After Heat Aging Is Astm C1522. • Miscellaneous Materials: In Addition To Primary Waterproofing Materials, Provide The Following, As Required By The Manufacturer. C.1.7. Primer/filler/sealer: As Recommended By Manufacturer Or Fluid-applied Waterproofing. C.1.8. Protection Board, Flashings, Cant Strips, And Accessories: As Recommended By Manufacturer Of Waterproofing System. C.1.9. Sealant: As Per Manufacturer’s Recommended Product. • Preparation Of Substrate: C.1.10. Clean Substrate Of Projections, Irregularities, Debris, And Substances Detrimental To Work; Comply With Instructions Of Prime Materials Manufacturer. C.1.11. Install Polyurethane Sealant Cant Strips, Flashings, Support, Embedded Items, Drain Fixtures, And Similar Accessories As Shown And As Recommended By Prime Materials Manufacturer And As Necessary For Field Conditions. C.1.12. Fill Voids, Seal Joints, And Apply Bond Breakers As Recommended By Prime Materials Manufacturer. C.1.13. Prime Substrate As Recommended By Prime Materials Manufacturer. C.1.14. Mask Off Adjoining Surfaces Not To Receive Fluid-applied Waterproofing To Effectively Prevent Spillage Or Over-spray Of Liquid Materials Outside Membrane Area. • Installation: C.1.15. General: Comply With Manufacturer’s Written Installation Recommendations, Including Preparation Of Substrate Surfaces, Detail Coatings Of Joints And Planar Changes In Substrate, And Priming Of Substrates. C.1.16. Start Installation Of Waterproofing Membrane Only In Presence And With Advice Of Manufacturer’s Technical Representative And Under Weather Conditions Acceptable For Installations. C.1.17. Apply Waterproofing Membrane Material To Substrates And Adjoining Surfaces Indicated To Receive Membrane. Apply In Accordance With Manufacturer’s Recommendations To Obtain Thickness Specified And Using Applicators And Techniques Best Suited For Slope And Type Of Substrate To Which Applied. If Two-coat Application Is Required To Obtain Membrane Thickness Specified Below, Apply Second Coat Only After Initial Cost Has Cured As Recommended By Manufacturer. Apply 60 Dry Mil Thickness On Required Areas. C.1.18. Install Sheet-type Flashings And Joint Covers Were Indicated And As Recommended By Prime Materials Manufacturer. Extend Flashings Onto Perpendicular Surfaces And Other Work Penetrating Substrate To Not Less Than 300mm Beyond Finished Surface To Be Applied Over Waterproofing, Unless Otherwise Indicated On Drawings. C.1.19. Permit Membrane To Cure Under Conditions That Will Not Contaminate Or Deteriorate Waterproofing Material. Block Off Traffic And Protect Membrane From Physical Damage. C.1.20. Install Protection Course On Cured Membrane After Testing, Without Delay To Minimize Period Of Membrane Exposure. On Vertical Surfaces Comply With Waterproofing Manufacturer’s Recommendations For Adhesion Of Protection Course To Membrane. C.1.21. Provide Concrete Wear Slab Covering Over Protection Board. C.1.22. In-place Testing: Before Completed Membranes On Horizontal Surfaces Are Covered By Protection Course Or Other Work, Test For Leaks As Per Manufacturer’s Recommended Procedure. Repair Any Leaks Revealed By Examination Of Substructure, And Repeat Test Until No Leakage Is Observed. Ii. Floor Finishes Ii.1. Tile Works • General: All Surfaces To Receive Tiles, Shall Be Free From Loose Plaster, Where Required, Existing Setting Mortar Bed Shall Be Stripped, Removed To Allow Proper Setting Of Tiles To Desired Finished Elevation. No Separate Payment For Trimming Existing Mortar Bed And Shall Be Deemed Included Elsewhere. • Common Areas And Offices – 60mx60cm Non-skid Ceramic Tiles. • All Toilets – 30cmx30cm Non-skid Ceramic Tiles. • Material Shall Be Subject To Review And Approval Of The Architect. Contractor To Submit Samples For Color And Texture Selection Prior To Delivery And Installation. • All Floor Cuttings On Both Ends Of The Walls Shall Be Of Equal Width. • Tile Grout Color To Match Color Of Tiles Or As Directed By The Architect. • Setting Bed Or Mortar Shall Be Dry Mixed, Sand-cement Mix With Water Added To Produce The Desired Consistency And Slurry Mix For Adhesion. Use Tile Adhesive For Areas That Are Less Than 1.5 Inches From Finish Floor Line. • All Exposed Corner Edges Shall Be Provided With Aluminum Stair Nosing. • No Human Traffic Or Construction Loads Shall Be Applied To All Newly Installed Tiles, And Allow Setting Mortar And Adhesive To Cure Prior. Ii.2. Anti-bacterial Vinyl Sheet Works • Work Includes But Is Not Limited To: C.2.1.1 3mm Anti-bacterial Vinyl Sheets With Cove And Capping – All Areas As Indicated On Drawings. • Installation Materials: - Trowelable Leveling And Patching Compounds: Latex-modified, Portland Cement Based Or Blended Hydraulic Cement-based Formulation Provided Or Approved By Resilient Product Manufacturer For Applications Indicated. - Adhesives: Water-resistant Type Recommended By Manufacturer To Suit Floor Tile And Substrate Conditions • Installation Should Be Carried In Accordance With Local Standards. Subfloor To Be Smooth, Hard, Clean And Dry Prior To Laying. • Project Condition: C.2.1.2 Maintain Temperatures Within Range Recommended By Manufacturer, But Not Less Than Deg C Or More Than 35 Deg C, In Spaces To Receive Floor Tile During The Following Time Periods: 1. 48 Hours Before Installation. 2. During Installation. 3. 48 Hours After Installation. C.2.1.3 After Post-installation Period, Maintain Temperatures Within Range Recommended By Manufacturer, But Not Less Than 13 Deg C Or More Than 35 Deg C. C.2.1.4 Close Spaces To Traffic During Floor Covering Installation. C.2.1.5 Close Spaces To Traffic For 48 Hours After Floor Covering Installation. C.2.1.6 Install Resilient Products After Other Finishing Operations, Including Painting, Have Been Completed. • Color And Patterns: C.2.1.7 Colors And Patterns: As Selected By The Healthcare Facility From Manufacturer's Full Range. • Positioning: - As Far As Possible, And Depending On The Width Of The Rolls, Seams Between Strips Should Be Kept Away From Areas Of Heavy Load. - Within Rooms, Strips Should Be Laid Towards The Main Window Or In A Lengthwise Direction. - Within Corridors, Strips Should Be Laid In The Direction Of Pedestrian Traffic Unless Otherwise Stated In The Contract Specifications. Apply The Flooring Along The Chalk Line. - Mark A Longitudinal Axis For Reference To Place Strips. - Unroll Fully Material. - Check That The Edge Of Strips Is Straight. Align The Edge Of The First Strip To Longitudinal Axis To Have A Straight Reference. - Leave A Gap Of 1 Cm Between Every Strip To Let Possible Full Material Acclimation In Its Length As In Its Width. If Area Is Too Small, It Is Possible To Overlap Fully Two Strips. Welding Joints: Leave A Space Of Max 1 Mm Between The Strips Cold Seaming: Overlap The Strips In Order To Cut Edges Flush - Let Material Relax During 24h. Material Will Be In The Best Conditions To Be Glued And Material Tensile Or Bubbles Will Be Mostly Released. • Gluing And Fitting: • This Is Done 24 Hours After Having Unrolled And Laid Out The Lengths. • The Application Is Done By Priming And Using Acrylic Emulsifying Adhesives With A Finely Toothed Spatula Or Trowel A2 Norm Tkb Or 1/16” X 1/16” X 1/16” Square Notch (1.6 Mm X 1.6 Mm X 1.6 Mm). Coverage Rate Is 300 Gr/sqm. To Achieve This Coverage, It Is Necessary To Change The Spatula Regularly. Important: • Forbid Any Trafficking For 48 Hours After Laying As Well As Any Furniture Movement. • Follow Carefully The Recommendations Of The Adhesive Manufacturer. • Closely Follow The Adhesive Manufacturer’s Instructions With Particular Regard To Its Waiting Time (the Interval Between Application Of Adhesive And Laying Of Flooring). • Room Temperature And Humidity, Sub-floor Absorption And Adhesive Coverage Are Important In Order To Achieve Perfect Adhesion. Fold Back Half Of The Strips When Applying Glue To The Floor • Rolling Out: • Rolling Out Should Be Done In Two Stages: 1. Manually, Using A Cork Smoothing Press 2. By Rolling Over The Entire Surface With A 50kg Roller When Installation Is Complete. Stage 1: Pressing Down Manually Stage 2: Using A 50kg Roller • Trimming The Edge: - Use Of Coving As A Skirting System. • Welding: - Heat Welding Requires A Small Gap 1 Mm Max To Be Left Between The Sheets During The Gluing Process. Cold Welding Requires Perfectly Straight Edges. Employ An Overlap Cutting Method During The Gluing Process. • Putting Into Service – Allowing Traffic: After Installation: • For Normal Pedestrian Traffic, Allow 48 Hours • Before Moving Or Installing Furniture, Allow 72 Hours Ii.3. Resinous Floor Coating System Works • Work Includes But Is Not Limited To: C.2.3.1. Self-levelling Epoxy Floor Coating System (ff-4) – Of Stairs 01 And Fire Exit Stairs As Indicated On Drawings; C.2.3.2. Rubberized Floor Coating System (ff-5) – Of Ramp And Landing As Indicated On Drawings. • Product: C.2.3.3. Performance Requirements: Self-levelling Epoxy Floor Coating System (ff-4) – Abrasion-, Impact-, And Chemical Resistant, And Resin-based Monolithic Floor Surfacing Designed To Produce A Seamless Floor. Rubberized Floor Coating System (ff-5) – A Rubberized Coating Product That Is One Step, Self-priming For Use On Concrete, Metal And All General Surfaces. It Is Fast Drying And Has Excellent Resistance To Water, Weather, Oil, Acid And Other Chemicals. It Is Formatted Using A Modified Non-chlorinated Formula That Is Nontoxic And Ozone Safe. Low-emitting Materials: Flooring System Shall Comply With The Testing And Product Requirements Of The California Department Of Public Health's (formerly, The California Department Of Health Services') "standard Method For The Testing And Evaluation Of Volatile Organic Chemical Emissions From Indoor Sources Using Environmental Chambers." C.2.3.3. Preparation: Preferred Surface Profile Is Semi-rough Plaster Finish And Leveled. When Concrete Floor Finish Is Smooth, Mechanical Grinding Is Recommended. Dust Off With Broom Or Best Use Vacuum Cleaner To Rid Sand Dust. Surface Should Be Adequate Dry, Free From Dirt And Other Contaminants Prior To Paint Application. Repair Damaged And Deteriorated Concrete According To Resinous Flooring Manufacturer's Written Instructions. Patching And Filling: Use Patching And Fill Material To Fill Holes And Depressions In Substrates According To Manufacturer's Written Instructions. Control Joint Treatment: Treat Control Joints And Other Nonmoving Substrate Cracks To Prevent Cracks From Reflecting Through Resinous Flooring According To Manufacturer's Written Instructions. C.2.3.3. Application: A. Apply Components Of Resinous Flooring System According To Manufacturer's Written Instructions To Produce A Uniform, Monolithic Wearing Surface Of Thickness Indicated. B. Primer: Apply Primer Over Prepared Substrate At Manufacturer's Recommended Spreading Rate. C. Reinforcing Membrane: Apply Reinforcing Membrane To Substrate Cracks. D. Self-leveling Body Coats: Apply Self-leveling Slurry Body Coats In Thickness Indicated For Flooring System. E.
