Description Technical Specifications I. Project Profile: Project Title : Regional Ecotourism Circuit Final Workshop Target Date Of Implementation : April 24-26, 2024 Proposed Location : Iloilo City I. Background And Legal Basis The Initiatives For The Philippine Tourism, As Identified In The National Tourism Development Plan 2023-2028, Is Framed By The Strategic Values Of Philippine Identity, Sustainability, Resilience And Global Competitiveness. The Development Of A Regional Ecotourism Circuit Will Be Part Of The Diversification Of Portfolio Leading To A Sustainable Ridge To Reef Experience In The Country. This Initiative Of The Department Of Tourism Regional Office Vi Will Cover The Creation Of A Regional Ecotourism Plan And Conduct Of Learning Activities That Will Equip The Communities In Destination Management. The Regional Eco Tourism Plan Will Further Support The Tourism Act Of 2009 Objectives To: Sec.2. B) Recognize Sustainable Tourism Development As Integral To The National Socio-economic Development Efforts To Improve The Quality Of Life Of The Filipino People, Providing The Appropriate Attention And Support For The Growth Of The Industry, And Sec. 3. I) Develop Responsible Tourism As A Strategy For Environmentally Sound And Community Participatory Tourism Programs, Enlisting The Participation Of Local Communities, And Providing Assistance In The Determination Of Ecotourism Sites And Ensuring Full Enjoyment Of The Benefits Of Tourism By The Concerned Communities. Moreover, This Project Will Be Anchored On Executive Order No 111 Series Of 1999, An Act Establishing The Guidelines For Ecotourism Development In The Philippines Using The Framework To Guide The Government Agencies Concerned In The Formulation And Implementation Of Plans, Programs, And Projects Affecting The Environment And Natural Resources; And The Joint Denr-dot Memorandum Circular No. 98-02 Or Guidelines For Ecotourism Development Of The Philippines That Stipulates The Criteria Considering The Unique Natural And Cultural Features, Accessibility, Stable Peace And Order Situation, Social Preparedness Of The Community, Appropriate Location Of The Ecotourism Activities In Case Of Nipas Areas, And Presence Of Facilities And Amenities. Ii. Brief Description And Objectives A. The Crafting Of The Regional Ecotourism Circuit Is A Shared Goal Of The Members Of The Regional Ecotourism Committee In Western Visayas. Achieved Through The Collaborative Efforts Between The Three Regional Line Agencies And Supported By The Field Offices (pasus) And Local Communities Managing The Ecotourism Sites All Over The Region. B. At The End Of The Workshop, The Following Will Be The Outputs: C. Island-based Circuit And A Region-wide Ecotourism Circuit (to Include Panay- Guimaras-negros) D. Identified Priority Ecotourism Sites For Inclusion In The Western Visayas Ecotourism Circuit (by Assessing Each Tourism Site’s Readiness, Accessibility, Support Services, And Enabling Environment) E. Identified Target Tourist Markets F. Recommended Action Plan For Next Steps On Ecotourism Circuit Development Iii.
