Description Technical Specifications Coffee Trail - Slow Food Experience Video Production (food And Tourism For Rural Development In Western Visayas 2024) Date: September 1-15, 2024 Description The Slow Food Movement Is A Global Initiative Focused On Encouraging People To Stop Eating Fast Food, Instead Taking Time To Prepare And Eat Whole, Locally-sourced Foods. The Focus Is Not Only On Nutrition, But Also On Preserving Culture And Heritage As It Relates To Food. Slow Food Promotes Local Food And Traditional Farming And Cooking. It Is Being Intro-duced As A New Model For Tourism Where Farmers, Herders, Butchers, Bakers, Local Artisans And Chefs Come Together And Take Active Part In Showcasing Local Traditions To Tourists. It Builds Local Level Alliances Between Farmers, Restaurants And Hospitality To Maximize Tourism Multiplier Effect On Local Quality Food Production, And Preserve Local Food Biodiversity. The Use Of Agro-ecological Ingredients Endemic Or Unique In The Area Is One Of The Major Highlights Of The Said Movement. The Philippines’ Coffee History Began In 1740, When Coffee Was First Planted By A Spanish Monk In Lipa, A Town South Of Manila, Making This City The Coffee Capital Of The Country. While Filipino Coffee Production Might Not Be Widely Recognized Internationally, It Holds A Significant Place In The Daily Lives Of The Country’s People. There Is A Growing Awareness Of Its Quality Within The Country. To This Date, The Philippines Are Still Among The Few Countries That Cultivate Four Dif-ferent Varieties Of Coffee: Arabica, Robusta, Excelsa, Liberiku. And Among The Different Parts Of The Philippines, Slow Food Minoyan Murcia Coffee Network Community, Located On The Island Of Negros, Joined The Slow Food Initiative And Took The First Steps On This Path, Signing The Guide-lines Document For Good, Clean, And Fair Coffee. In Reference To The Food And Tourism For Rural Development In Western Visayas Phase 1-3 Conducted On November 2022 To Date, This Project Aims To Officialize A Unique Offering To Tourists That Will Make Them Appreciate The Way A Coffee Farmer Grows And Harvests Coffee Beans Through Good, Clean And Fair Practices.
