Request for expression of interest: Consulting Services for Horticultural Technician (2 Positions) OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSIGNMENT Under the supervision of the Horticultural Expert, the Horticultural Technician will directly be responsible for the execution of the research experimental design, management of the experimental trials, data acquisition and implementation of the seed development and planting material programme for supply of basic seed and parent planting material for local private nurseries. DUTIES Execution of the research experimental designs Reads, interprets and plans for proper laying out of the experiments. Ensures timely execution of farm operation. Liaises with the Expert to prioritize activities in line with the project implementation for the purposes of budgeting and implementation. Lays out experimental trials. Management of the experimental trials Takes the necessary measures to ensure the safety and tidiness of the trial. Supervises staff involved in the execution of safety and tidiness of trials. Monitors and evaluates the performance of the experiments in order to ensure their effectiveness and take corrective measures when and where necessary. Ensures adherence to the Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) standards and manuals. Liaise with other scientists and technical staff on designs, data collection, data analysis and interpretation for quality research. Data acquisition Collects data regularly in accordance with the research project implementation guidelines. Capture and process data on a spreadsheet for Expert and other scientists.
