Page # 1 VOLUME – II TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION FOR CIVIL WORKS Page # 2 GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS CHAPTER - I -- GENERAL 1.1 Description of work: Telangana Drinking Water supply Project. 1.2. Specification Drawings The specification drawings are incorporated in tender documents. These drawings are made for tenderer’s guidance only. After approval of designs and drawings furnished by the contractor, “Released for construction” drawings will be issued to the contractor during progress of the works. “Released for construction” drawings may be revised and revised copies may be issued to the contractor during execution of the work as per site conditions. It shall be appreciated that for work of this nature included in this contract, there are limitations for issuing construction drawings at tender stage and hence “Released for Construction” drawings progressively issued during construction broadly conforming to the basic scheme as shown in the tender drawings, shall form a part of the contract. No claim will be entertained on the score that the details shown of “Released for Construction” drawings are different from those shown on the tender drawings, unless the drawings indicate such items of work which are not a part of the Bill of Quantities. 1.3 Design Submissions: Complete detailed design calculations of foundations and superstructure together with general arrangement drawings and explanatory sketches shall be submitted by the contractor to ENGINEER IN CHARGE. Separate calculations for foundations or superstructures submitted independent of each other shall be deemed to be incomplete and will not be accepted by Department. The design considerations described hereunder establish the minimum basic requirements of plain and reinforced concrete structures, masonry structures and structural steel works. However, any particular structure shall be designed for the satisfactory performance of the functions for which the same is being constructed. The Contractor shall also take care to check the stability of partly completed and completed structures. 1.4. Materials a. The term “Materials” shall mean all materials, goods and articles of every kind whether raw, processed or manufactured and equipment and plant of every kind to be supplied by the Contractor for incorporation in the works. b. Except as may be otherwise specified for particular parts of the Works the provision of clauses in “materials and workmanship” shall apply to materials and workmanship for any part of the works. c. All materials shall be new and of the kinds and qualities described in the Contract and shall be at least equal to approved samples. d. Materials shall be transported, handled and stored in such a manner as to prevent deterioration, damage or contamination failing which such damaged materials will be rejected and shall not be used on any part of the Works under this contract. Page # 3 e. Such rejected materials shall be stacked separately and flagged as REJECTED and shall be removed from site within fifteen days. 1.5. Samples and Tests of Materials a. The Contractor shall submit samples of such materials as may be required by the Engineer in Charge and shall carry out the specified tests directed by the Engineer in Charge at the Site, at the supplier’s premises or at a laboratory approved by the Engineer in Charge. b. Samples shall be submitted and tests carried out sufficiently early to enable further samples to be submitted and tested if required by the Engineer in Charge along with requisite details thereof. c. The Contractor shall give the Engineer In Charge seven days notice in writing of the date on which any of the materials will be ready for testing or inspection at the supplier’s premises or at a laboratory approved by the Engineer In Charge.
