Earnest Money Deposit: - a. The Tenderer shall furnish the EMD off line. b. The Tenderer shall pay 5% of the total rate quoted for the lots as EMD, subject to a minimum of Rs.500/-, for consideration of Tender. Note: During Tender creation in Government E- procurement portal, it is permitted to enter the EMD, only as a fixed value. Hence a minimum EMD of Rs.500 /- has been fixed. The bidders shall furnish 5% of the total rate quoted by them as EMD. If the 5% of the total rate quoted is less than Rs.500/-, a minimum EMD of Rs.500/- shall be furnished. c. The Earnest Money Deposit paid by the tenderer will not carry any interest. d. The Earnest Money Deposits specified above should be submitted by means of DEMAND DRAFT / BANKER’S CHEQUE/PAY ORDER, payable to the Superintending Engineer /TEDC/Tirupur, obtained from any of the Nationalised / Scheduled/ Foreign Banks with branches in India payable at Tirupur. e. Cheque (or) Bank Guarantee towards Earnest Money Deposit will not be accepted and tenders will be rejected. f. The ‘EMD Cover’ containing the Original Demand Draft/Pay Order/Banker’s Cheque towards EMD shall be posted/couriered/given in person so as to be reached to The Chief Engineer / Distribution, Coimbatore Region,Tatabad,Coimbatore-641 012 on or before 02.00 P.M. on the due date for closing of e-tender. The cover marked “EMD” shall be sealed and super scribed with the ”specification number, due date for submission, Name and full address of the tenderer” and addressed to the Chief Engineer/ Distribution/ Coimbatore Region, Tatabad, Coimbatore -641 012. The EMD cover not sealed and marked as stated above is liable for rejection. g. The TANGEDCO will not be responsible for any postal or other transit delay in receipt of the EMD cover. The EMD cover received after the due date & time will be summarily rejected and their online bids will not be opened. h. The scanned copy of the Demand Draft/Pay Order/Banker’s Cheque for EMD shall be uploaded by the bidder during on line submission of bid in cover -1. i. The bidder shall have to enter the EMD details viz., DD No, date, Amount, Name of the Bank etc., before uploading the documents. j. The details of EMD submitted off-line and the scanned copies uploaded during on line bid submission shall be the same, otherwise the tender will be summarily rejected. k. The offers of the bidders will be summarily rejected and their price bids will not be opened electronically, due to noncompliance of EMD if: i. the EMD cover consisting of original Demand Draft/ Banker’s Cheque/ Pay Order towards EMD is not received within the due date and time of closing of e-tender. ii. the scanned copy of DD/BC/PO for EMD is not uploaded online . iii. the tender is submitted without sufficient EMD (ie.) 5% value of the quoted lots. Special Note: There will be no exemption to SSI and NSIC units from payment of EMD and therefore all tenders without the prescribed EMD will not be opened and will be summarily rejected
