SECTION-VI TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION 22 KV AIR BREAK SWITCH WITH PT INSULATOR 1.0. SCOPE : 1.1. This specification covers the design, manufacture, testing before despatch and delivery at destination of 22 KV AB Switch as detailed below : 1.2. The 22KV AB Switch of continuous rating outdoor, gang operated rotating type brass bush bearing for each rotating insulator for 2 Nos. Post Type Insulator per phase with arcing horns, horizontal single brake, for use on 22 KV 50 cycles three phase earthed system. 1.3. The switch shall be completed with base frame, tandem pipe, operating pipe, operating handle, with provision for locking arrangement in both “ON” and “OFF” positions, cantilever angles and struts. The “ON” and “OFF” positions should be marked clearly. 2.0. DESIGN : 2.1. The enclosed sketch gives the dimensions of various components of 22KV AB Switch (Except insulator portion) in drawing No.DB/E-22/89. 2.2. The switch shall be mounted at 24 feet above ground level, and shall be capable of operating by the handle from ground level by means of an operating handle. 2.3. The AB Switch shall be suitable for mounting on 10 feet center structure. 2.4. The 22 KV AB Switch shall have smooth operation with a minimum of 3 guides and unions and universal joints for the 5.0 meter length of operating pipe of 32 mm nominal size. 2.5. The rotating insulator shall be fixed on pedestal bearing. 2.6. The size of the mounting frame shall be as per the sketch or corrected to the barest higher size sections in mm. 2.7. The stiffeners as per the sketch shall be welded to the mounting frame. 2.8. The phase base flat shall be welded to the mounting frame. 2.9. An earthing terminal for the switch shall be provided. 3.0. STANDARD : 3.1. The 22KV AB Switch shall be capable for withstanding rated mechanical loads and electromagnetic forces, without affecting the operation. 3.2. The constructions shall be such that AB Switch will not open to wind pressure, vibrations and reasonable shocks and under the influence of short circuit currents. 3.3. The AB Switch shall comply with IS.9921 /1985(Part-I, II, III, IV and V) with subsequent amendments thereof. 3.4. The operating pipe and tandem pipe shall comply with IS.1239 Part I of 1979 with subsequent amendments thereof (Medium Class). 3.5. The Insulators shall be post type, two per phase and conform to IS.2544/1973 with subsequent amendments thereof. 4.0. RATED VALUES AND CHARACTERISTICS OF 22KV AB SWITCH (OUTDOOR TYPE). 4.1. 1 No. of poles 3 (Three) 2 Class Outdoor 3 Rated voltage 22KV 4 Rated insulation level impulse withstand voltage i. To earth between poles 125KV (Peak) ii. Across the isolating distance 145KV (Peak) 5 Rating one minute power frequency withstand voltage i. To earth between poles 50KV (RMS) ii. Across the isolating distance 60 KV (RMS) 6 Rated Frequency 50 c/s 7 Rated normal current 200 Amps (**) (**) For the rated normal current of the disconnectors the RMS value of the current which the disconnector shall be able to carry continuously without deterioration at its rated frequency with temperature rises of the various parts not exceeding the value specified in Table 4 of IS. 9921 (Part-II) – 1985. The rated normal current of 200 Amps be selected on the above basis. 8 Rated short time withstand current The RMS value of the rated short time withstand current in KA for disconnector for 200 Amps is 8KA 9 The standard value of rated duration of short circuit One second 10 Rated peak withstand current The value of rated peak withstand shall be equal to 2.5 times the rated short time withstand current. 5.0. TYPE TEST : 5.1. The type test certificates covering all the tests as per IS.9921/1985 (Part-I to V) obtained from a Government recognised testing laboratory and the type tests should have been conducted not earlier than 5 years (Five)
