Conducting Cross Hole Test for evaluating the primary (P) waves & shear (S) waves velocities in two mutually perpendicular directions at the intervals of 1.5m up to the depths mentioned below as per technical specifications, drawings & instructions of Engineer including preparation and submission of test reports in triplicate and one soft copy (USB drive) : Note: 1. The quoted rate shall include mobilisation, demobilisation, hiring & operating charges of equipment, spares, consumables, manpower, overheads, profit, taxes, duties, royalties & other statutory levies. 2. The cost shall also include compilation & analysis of the result & preparation of the detailed report taking in to account the available geotechnical investigations data. The final report shall be submitted in soft and 05 hard copies. 3. The required bore holes (Nx size for rock portion) up to required depth for conducting the test (one source hole & 4 observation holes for each test) shall be paid in the relevant item. However the cost of flushing/ cleaning of the holes shall be taken in to account while quoting the rates. 4. The bore holes deviation survey as per specifications shall also be included in the quoted rates.

Unconfined Undrain Test

Plugging of bore holes as per specifications and as directed by Engineer using 1:2 cement-sand grout. Note: 1. The grouting of the hole shall be done using a tremie extending upto bottom of the hole and raising the same as the grouting proceeds. 2. The payment will be made in running metre for the depth of bore holes plugged.

Without saturation

Conducting Unconfined Compressive strength Test on undisturbed soil sample or Remoulded soil sample as per IS 2720-part 10 and as directed by EIC.

Conducting Direct Shear Test on undisturbed soil sample or on Remoulded soil sample as per drawings, specifications, IS 2720-part 13 and as directed by EIC.

Conducting CBR Test on soil sample as per drawings, specifications, IS 2720: part 16 and as directed by EIC.

Collecting ground water samples as applicable at specified depths from drill holes (minimum 2 litres) and conducting full chemical analysis of water sample as per relevant IS code in an approved laboratory, complete as per drawing, specifications, including submission of test reports.

Consolidated Undrain type including measurement of Pore water pressure

Conducting Triaxial compression strength with internal pressure upto 80 kg/cm2 as per relevant IS Code. Note: For measurement, one set means 3 samples with 3 different confining pressures.

Conducting Vane Shear Test on undisturbed soil sample or on Remoulded soil sample as per drawings, specifications, IS 2720 part-XXX and as directed by EIC.

Carrying out laboratory tests on rock samples in an approved laboratory, complete as per specifications and as directed by Engineer, including necessary transportation of samples to approved laboratories wherever required and preparation and submission of test reports in triplicate and one soft copy (USB drive).

Final report shall be submitted after the draft copy is approved by the Engineer. Report shall be submitted in soft copies as well as hard copies.

Chlorides content determination.

Carrying out laboratory tests on soil samples in an approved laboratory, complete as per specifications and as directed by Engineer, including necessary transportation of samples to approved laboratories wherever required and preparation and submission of test reports in triplicate and one soft copy (USB drive).

Conducting Consolidation Test on undisturbed soil sample, giving full test results including e-log, p- curve, virgin curves, Cv, e, av, Cc etc. as per drawings & relevent IS code-2720 part 15 and as directed by EIC.

Conducting Triaxial Compressive strength Test on undisturbed soil sample or Remoulded soil sample as per IS 2720-part 11 & 12 and as directed by EIC.

Nitrates content determination

Conducting chemical analysis of undisturbed soil sample or disturbed SPT soil samples collected from selected bore holes as per drawings, specifications, IS 2720 (Part 21,22,23,24,25,26 & 27) and as directed by EIC.

Conducting Permeability Test on undisturbed soil sample(constant or variable head type) as per drawings, specifications, IS code and as directed by EIC.

Tensile test by Brazilian method as per IS 10082

Clearing the site by cutting, uprooting and removal of shrubs, bushes, weeds and trees upto girth of 100mm (measured at a height of 1 m above ground) including removal of bamboo bushes of all sizes/Nos. and disposal of the same in safe way to prevent fire hazard to far away place upto a lead of 2500 m from the work place and as directed by the EIC.

Conducting test for Density & Natural moisture content from the Undisturbed samples collected from selected bore holes as per drawings , specifications, IS 2720 and as directed by EIC.

Uniaxial compression test to determine un-confined compressive strength, Young's Modulus E and Poisson's ratio

Conducting index properties of soil such as liquid limit, plastic limit and plasticity index etc as per drawings, specification, IS 2720 (Part 5), IS 9259 and direction of the Engineer. Three tests of each soil sample will be considered as one set.

Setting up of drilling equipment at each of the drill locations includes following activities but not limited to them. (1)General clearance of site and removal of shrubs, bushes etc. and disposing at places as directed by Engineer-in Charge upto 3km lead, required to commence the boring/ drilling operation & in-situ tests in bore holes, for transferring of bench marks, making temporary benchmarks etc and clearance of site after completion of work. (2) Making temporary access roads to the boring/ drilling and test locations from existing approach roads to site. (3) Surveying and establishing grid lines and bench mark in the plant area at 100m centres in two perpendicular directions from its available benchmark and gridlines in its plant site. (4) Mobilization and Demobilization of adequate numbers of suitable boring and drilling rigs (suggestive deployment of 2 nos) of hydraulic type, including necessary drilling rods, pumps, miscellaneous equipment, tools, spares, consumables etc. adequate for each set of drilling plant, survey equipment, etc. Additional rigs and equipment shall be mobilized if needed for timely completion of the work at his own cost. (5) Marking the drill hole locations on ground by actual survey as per the drawing, shifting and setting up of rig at each bore hole location including staging, platform, earthwork, anchoring etc. all complete. (6) Deployment of technical, skilled, semi-skilled & unskilled man power required for carrying out the complete work as per specifications & drawings. (7) Measurement of ground water level as per specifications & drawings. (8) Maintenance of drilling records and submission of final geological logs in hardcopy as well as soft copy. (Item will be operated only one time per one bore hole location)

Rotary boring/ drilling of ‘SX’ size holes vertically to log and collect samples through all kinds of soils and wheathered rock (RQD =25%) with adequate and suitable equipment for all depths as per specifications, drawings and as directed by the Engineer. Note: The quoted rate shall include the following: 1. Mobilization and demobilization of adequate numbers of suitable boring and drilling rigs of hydraulic type, including necessary drilling rods, pumps, miscellaneous equipment, tools, spares, consumables etc. adequate for each set of plant, survey equipment, etc. Additional rigs and equipment shall be mobilized by contractor, if needed, for timely completion of the work at his own cost. 2. Deployment of technical, skilled, semi skilled & unskilled man power required for carrying out the complete work as per specifications & drawings. 3. Providing suitable temporary removable casing for ensuring stability of boreholes in soil/ weathered rock. 4. Measurement of ground water level as per specifications & drawings. 5. Maintenance of drilling records and submission of final geological logs in hardcopy as well as soft copy.

Conducting Specific Gravity as per specification, drawings, IS 2720 (Part-3) and as directed by EIC. Three tests of each soil sample will be considered as one set.

Up to 35 m depth below the Ground level

Preparation and submission of comprehensive draft / interim report (3copies) and final (3 copies) reports of all the tests, field investigations, surveys, laboratory tests etc. in the scope of this tender as detailed in various schedules, specifications, drawings inclusive of bore logs, survey of discontinuities, Compilation, interpretation, analysis of the data, recommendations of the foundation design parameters, Liquefaction analysis, found out from the tests, survey and investigations as per the scope of the works and as per AERB Guide no AERB /NPP/SG/CSE-2.

Tensile test by Point load method as per IS 8764

Providing & installing permanent new PVC casing of HX size dia in the already drilled SX size holes including filling the annular space by Bentonite / other suitable materials as directed by EIC along with necessary coupling, cutting, threading, etc. complete, in the above specified drilled holes, wherever asked for by engineer. Note: These PVC cased holes will be used for carrying out cross hole test to find shear wave velocities in the foundation strata. The casing is required only for soil portion of the hole.

Same as above item but with NX size holes in rock formations (excluding carrying out SPT) including collection, numeration and logging of cores, supply of wooden boxes for core samples, painting, labelling of boxes, putting core samples in the boxes, labelling of cores samples, colour photographs (100mm x 150 mm) of boxes with core samples placed inside the boxes and transporting and storing in core samples library at location indicated by Engineer, measurement of ground water level etc. complete as per specifications & drawings.

Carrying out Pressure Meter Tests (Expansion type) in rock, up to 200 bars, in bore holes at specified depths for estimation of modulus of elasticity of rock etc. as per IS 12955, specifications and drawings in selected boreholes as directed by the Engineer and establishment of elastic modulus and deformation modulus and safe bearing capacity including preparation and submission of test reports in triplicate and one soft copy (USB drive).

Sulphates content determination.

Obtaining Undisturbed tube / piston soil sample, 90mm diameter and 450 mm long from all depth of the drilled boreholes, necessary sealing and transporting the same to testing laboratory as per the specification and as directed by the EIC. Collection of the undisturbed samples may require deployment of the special sampelers depending on the soil type encountered.

Free & Saline ammonia content determination.
