At the Aba II, the incoming wastewater is cleaned in two lines. Line 1 (existing line) cleans the municipal water and water from groundwater treatment, line 2 mainly cleans the wastewater from paper machine 2 (pm 2). In the aeration tanks, the water is treated by introducing oxygen. Each aeration tank is divided into 4 cascades. Cascades 1 and 2 each have a volume of approx. 600 m³, cascades 3 and 4 each have a volume of approx. 1,200 m³. The aim of cleaning aeration tank 4 is to completely remove a sludge-water mixture and to remove lime deposits (limescale) from the inner walls and floors of the tank. This cleaning should take place while the installed technology (stirring and aeration units -> OKI's) remains in the tank.
