Prequalification are invited for Learning and Consultation workshop on the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) and the International Classification of Health Interventions (ICHI) Under overall supervision of the WHO Representative for Rwanda, and the direct supervision of the WHO NPO M&E and Head of Planning Department in Rwanda Ministry of Health, the consultant will facilitate the national implementation of ICD-11 and ICHI in Rwanda.The International Classification of Diseases (ICD) is the gold standard for coding of morbidity and mortality statistics. Its eleventh version, ICD-11, is much easier and has been designed for use in a digital environment. The ICD-11 will come into effect in January 2022. The WHO has also developed the International Classification of Health Intervention (ICHI), which will be the first international classification for medical acts and procedures and is now at a stable stage. Rwanda participated in several ICD-11 training in the African region, which allowed the implementation of this classification into its national electronic medical record (EMR) in two hospitals. Since then, several discussions have been ongoing on the implementation and use of the ICD-11 into the existing health information systems of the country. Furthermore, the need to harmonize the coding of diseases and medical procedures using international standard as a critical foundation for many important reforms was also recognized within the health sector.
