Purpose Of The Apw In Support Of The Ongoing Mongolian Health Futures Strategic Dialogue, Design And Deliver Two Three-hour Futures “reimagination Sessions” That Will Support Participants In Creatively Re-perceiving How The Future Could Look In 2050 Across Key Thematic Areas Of Digital Innovation And Technology, Healthy Environments And Healthy Communities.   Background The Data, Strategy And Innovation (dsi) Unit Was Set Up In 2019 In Who’s Western Pacific Regional Office (wpro) In Response To The Regional Director’s White Paper “for The Future” And Focuses On Innovation, Data And Strategic Engagement With Countries On Health Systems Transformation. Over The Past Two Years Dsi, Through The Strategic Dialogue Unit (dia), Has Been Working With Member States And Countries To Apply Futures Approaches To Longer-term Health Systems Planning. Dia Was Established To Help Member States In The Western Pacific Region Develop And Drive National Longer-term Transformation Agendas For Health Systems And Population Health And Wellbeing. This Is Done Through The Conduct Of Health Futures Strategic Dialogue (hfsd). The Health Futures Strategic Dialogue (hfsd) Is A Foresight-based Process Enabling Member States To Develop And Drive A National Longer-term Transformation Agenda For Health Systems And Population Health And Wellbeing. Traditional Planning Generally Strives To Overcome Problems And Issues Being Faced At The Time Of Planning And/or Derived From Experiences In The Recent Past. This Retrospective Approach Can Result In Short-sighted Responses That May Not Meet The Challenges Posed By A Rapidly Changing World With Emerging Environmental Threats, Political And Demographic Shifts, And Technological Opportunities. By Contrast, A Health Futures Strategic Dialogue Is Based On A Prospective Approach, By Which A Vision For The Future Is Developed And Policies And Plans To Achieve That Vision Are Formed Through Backcasting. This Is A Somewhat Unusual Approach For Many Of Our Counterparts. The Hfsd In Mongolia Is An Ongoing Process. In The Current Phase, Three Working Groups Have Been Exploring Key Changes Through Deep Dives Into 1) Healthy Environments; 2) Healthy Communities And Healthy People; And 3) Innovation And Digital Technology. Through The Process They Are Developing Perspectives On What Is Changing And Identified A Set Of Key Themes That Will Impact These Themes Out To 2050. They Are Exploring What This Means For Health, Wellbeing And Health Systems. The Next Phase Of The Project Will Be To Develop A Set Of Scenarios And A Vision For The Health Sector. The Current Deep Dive Process Highlighted The Need For Participants To Further Embrace And Unleash Their Imagination And Creative Thinking – Challenging Existing Assumptions About The Future And Making New Connections Through Divergent Thinking To Ensure That The Visions Of The Future Fully Capture Potential Opportunities For The Country’s Health System. The Two Proposed “reimagination Sessions” Will Be Specifically Designed To Help Participants Reflect On Emerging Insights And Creatively Reimagine Possibilities Using Appropriate Foresight Techniques Such As Causal Layered Analysis (cla). The First Workshop Will Focus On The Innovation And Digital Technology Group To Help Participants Create New Metaphors For Mongolia In 2050. The Second Workshop Will Run As Part Of A Final Session That Brings Participants From The Three Working Groups Together To Reflect On The Outputs From The Deep Dive Process. By Doing So, The “reimagination Sessions” Will Allow Participants To Challenge Existing Concepts, Worldviews, And Myths About The Future To Reperceive Possibilities. Session 1 Will Be Delivered Virtually To A Physical Audience In Mongolia Using Real-time Translation. There Will Be Approximately 30-35 Participants Joining The Session. Note-taking And Facilitation Support Can Be Provided. • Provide Training And Facilitation Briefing For In-country Facilitators. • Include Appropriate Futures Methods In The Session Materials Such As Causal Layered Analysis To Help Participants Reimagine Possibilities. Output 1.2: Delivery Of Report Summarizing Session 1 Outputs • Provide A Final Session Report (2-3 Pages) Within One Week Of The Session’s Translation And Recording Materials Being Provided. Output 1.3: Design And Delivery Of The Second Workshop Session (session 2) On Digital Innovation And Technology • Take Part In A Briefing Session And Review Materials From The Deep Dive Process. • Develop A Three-hour Outline And Workshop Plan For The Final Session.
