Background The Expanded Programme Of Immunization (epi) Of The Ministry Of Health & Human Services (mohhs) Of The Republic Of The Marshall Islands (rmi) Has Made Great Progress In The Immunization And Vaccine-preventable Diseases (vpd) Programme To Protect Its People From Vaccine-preventable Diseases (vpds) In Past Decades. The Country Has Remained Polio-free Since 2000 And Managed Measles Outbreaks During Global, Regional And Sub-regional Widespread Outbreaks In 2018-2019. At The Same Time, It Has Been Making Significant Contributions To Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (sdgs). The Routine Immunization System Remains The Main Element Of The Primary Health Care Programme. The System And Programme Have Been Showing Improvement And Vaccination Coverages Are Also Increasing. However, Data Shows That The Republic Of Marshal Islands’ Findings Difficult To Reach 95% Coverage For Many Antigens. Dtp 3rd Dose Coverage And Measles Containing Vaccine (mcv) First Dose Coverage Didn’t Exceed 85% And 95% Respectively In The Last 10 Years. The Immunization Supply Chain System Is The Backbone Of Routine Immunization And Needs To Manage Well For Making The Vaccines Available In The Right Quantity At The Right Time And Right Places.  The Country Needs Better Stock Management Capacity. Maintenance Of The Cold Chain Remains A Critical Issue. A Well-functioning Vpd Surveillance System Is Critical To Achieving And Sustaining National Vaccine-preventable Disease And Immunization (vdis) Elimination And Control Goals. Among Vpds, Acute Flaccid Paralysis (afp), Measles/rubella Surveillance, And Its Performance Indicators Remain Critical. Sensitive Surveillance Is Needed For Demonstrating Evidence Of The Absence Of Viral Transmission To Maintain Polio-free Certification And Measles Elimination Verification. Widespread Measles Outbreaks In The Pacific In 2019 And The Covid-19 Pandemic From 2020 Onward Seriously Impacted Routine Immunization And Vpd Surveillance System And Programme. This Support Will Provide Technical Support And Training To Routine Immunization And Supply Chain Management System And Also To Support Collecting Vpd Surveillance Data.   Purpose/specific Objectives Of The Activity Under The Direct Supervision Of The National Cold Chain Management Coordinator Of The Mohhs, The Ssa Will Provide Technical Support To National And Sub-national Levels Toward Strengthening Routine Immunization, Supply Chain Management System, And Vpd Surveillance And Achieving Its Goals By Using Existing.   Expected Outcomes  Highly Trained Staff, Strengthened Immunization And Supply Chain Systems, Quality Data Collection And Reporting, Increased Vaccination Coverage, Increased Detection And Reporting Of Vpd And Aefi Cases; Ensured Safe And Effective Immunization Programmes; All Of Which Contribute To Reducing Under-5 Child Mortality And Achieving Sustainable Development Goal.   Job Description (activities To Be Carried Out) The Immunization Support Officer (iso) Will Assist To Strengthen The Routine Immunization System, Supply Chain System And Vpd Surveillance System. The Iso Will Be Based At The Epi Unit Of The Ministry Of Health Rmi And Will Have The Following Responsibilities • Technical Support For Strengthening The Immunization System And Immunization Supply Chain System; • Develop A Work Plan For Immunization And Supply Chain-related Activities; • Monitor And Supervise Immunization Programmes And Vaccine Stores At National And Sub-national Levels; • Coordinate And Support Vaccine Forecasting And Distribution; • Coordinate To Develop/update Of The Cold Chain Equipment Maintenance Plan And Its Implementation; • Coordinate And Work With His, Epidemiological Department And Divisions/sub-divisions For Immunization And Vpd Data; • Monthly Report Of Immunization And Vpd Data; • Plan, Organize And Conduct Training For Immunization Programme, Immunization Supply Chain Including Other Training Needed By The Epi Unit; • Any Other Activities Assigned By The Head Of The Unit And/or National Epi Programme Manager; And • Perform Any Other Duties That May Be Assigned By The Who Country Office   Qualification And Experiences Education A Graduate Nurse From A Recognized Institution And/or Training/s In Public Health At Graduate Degree Level Or Its Equivalent Experience At Least Three Years Of Relevant Experience And/or Experiences In The Field Of Surveillance Programmes. Technical Skills And Knowledge Good Knowledge In The Planning, Preparation, Implementation And Monitoring Of Vpd Surveillance Activities.
