Covid-19 Modelling For Western Pacific Countries & The Purpose Of This Request For Proposals (rfp) Is To Enter Into A Contractual Agreement With A Successful Bidder And Select A Suitable Contractor To To Provide Technical Support Using Covid-19 Epidemic Modelling In Countries In The Western Pacific Region. Specifically, To Conduct Training And Develop Different Scenario Models For Public Health Ministries In Malaysia, The Philippines And Viet Nam To Understand And Apply Models To Inform Public Health Policy And Decision-making.   Background Since December 2019 Covid-19 Has Impacted The Region Immensely, With Over 202 Million Cases And Over 410 Thousand Deaths As Of 1 May 2023. Ministries Of Health In Many Countries Need To Further Develop Disease Surveillance To Guide Future Decision Making. This Requires A Surveillance System To Monitor Covid-19 Using Multiple Sources Of Information To Improve Understanding Of The Potential Impacts Of The Variants On The Epidemiology, Severity And Effectiveness Of Public Health And Social Measures.  As Of 2023, The Covid-19 Pandemic Situation Is Characterized By Heterogenous Vaccination Coverage Across Different Countries And Regions. While Some Areas Have Achieved High Levels Of Vaccination Coverage And Have Started To Transition To A Post-pandemic Condition, Others Still Face Significant Challenges In Vaccine Distribution And Uptake. Additionally, The Emergence Of Novel Variants Of The Virus Has Created New Challenges In Disease Surveillance And Control Efforts, With Some Variants Showing Increased Transmissibility Or Reduced Vaccine Efficacy. The Need To Address Waning Immunity And The Potential Need For Vaccine Booster Shots Further Adds To The Complexity Of The Situation. One Key Challenge Is The Deployment Of Localized Covid-19 Epidemic Models. Wpro Seeks To Continue Applying The Covid-19 And Infectious Disease Modelling To Increase Understanding Of The Covid-19 Epidemic In The Region And Better Inform Member States’ Decision Making. The Modelling Support Will Be Required To Adapt Existing Covid-19 Epidemic Models To The Unique Contexts Of The Western Pacific Countries. This Will Involve Incorporating Country-specific Data On Demographics, Healthcare Capacity, And Epidemiological Trends. Support And Trainings Will  Also Be Needed To Guide Users Of Modelling Results And Inform Health System Readiness.   Requirements/work To Be Performed Output 1: Provide In-person Technical Training For Covid-19 Epidemic Modelling For The Selected Member States Of The Western Pacific Region (malaysia, Philippines, And Viet Nam).
