In Fact, The Western Pacific Region Has One Of The Largest And Fastest-growing Older Populations In The World. The Regional Action Plan On Healthy Ageing In The Western Pacific Aims To Support Older People Who Are Healthy, Thriving And Contributing In Society. It Advocates A Whole-of-society Transformation, Beyond Health Systems. Adding Years To Life Can Offer Individuals And Society New Opportunities, But Only If Society Encourages And Enables Older People To Remain Healthy And To Continue Participating And Thriving. Societal Transformation For Healthy Ageing Requires A Long-term Vision And Commitment, But Investing Early Can Yield Significant Returns For Individuals And Society As A Whole. As Part Of Social Transformation, It Is Essential To Understand And Address Ageism In Our Society. Older People Are Often Directly And Indirectly Limited From Participating In Activities They Find Meaningful Due To Stereotyping Based On Older Age. It Is Therefore Essential To Tackle Ageism As The First Step To Transforming Our Society And Create Enabling Environments For Older People To Continue To Remain As Active Members Of This Society.   Purpose/specific Objective Of The Activity The Incumbent Aims To Support The Healthy Ageing Unit (age) With Implementing Objective 1. Of The Regional Action Plan On Healthy Ageing In The Western Pacific, Transforming Societies As A Whole To Promote Healthy Ageing, Based On Understanding The Implications Of Population Ageing.   Description Of Activities To Be Carried Out Output/s Deliverable 1: A Brief Summary Of Ageism And How Older People Are Perceived In The Western Pacific Region (the Region). 1.1   Literature Review Summary (table) Of Studies On Ageism And Perception On Ageing From The Region. 1.2   Short Summary Report On Findings  Deliverable 2: Study Proposal On Understanding Ageism And Perception Of Ageing In The Region. 2.1 Concept Note On How To Tackle Ageism In The Region – Based On Recommended Actions In The Who Global Report On Ageism. 2.2 Identify Potential Academic Institutions And External Partners To Work With On Changing The Perception On Ageing, Older People And Their Role In Our Society. 2.3 Support Implementing Partner With Study On Ageism In The Region (including Assisting Study Protocol Drafting And Aligning The Study Design To Produce Findings To Serve As Background Materials For Perception Change Work). 2.4 Provide Technical Advice To Study Design To Ensure Mixed Methodology Is Used, Qualitative And Quantitative Study, Utilizing Both Big Data (when Available) Analysis And Focus Group Interviews With Human Centred Design Approach. Deliverable 3. Support Work On Perception Change And Tackling Ageism In The Region. 3.1 Assist Age And Selected Implementation Partner To Launch Collaboration To Perception Change And Tackling Ageism [exact Form Of Work (i.e. Campaign, Webinar, Report, Etc.)
