To determine the bid capacity required, we look at the estimated cost and the formulas provided for similar completed works. The estimated cost of the work is given as Rs. 457.64 Lac. The formulas for similar completed works are:
i) Three Similar completed works costing not less than the amount equal to 40% of the estimated cost.
ii) Two Similar completed works costing not less than the amount equal to 50% of the estimated cost.
iii) One Similar completed work costing not less than the amount equal to 80% of the estimated cost. Let's calculate the amounts:
i) 40% of Rs. 457.64 Lac = 0.4 * 457.64 = Rs. 183.05 Lac (for three similar works)
ii) 50% of Rs. 457.64 Lac = 0.5 * 457.64 = Rs. 228.82 Lac (for two similar works)
iii) 80% of Rs. 457.64 Lac = 0.8 * 457.64 = Rs. 366.11 Lac (for one similar work) Therefore, the bid capacity required is:
- Three similar works: at least Rs. 183.05 Lac each
- Two similar works: at least Rs. 228.82 Lac each
- One similar work: at least Rs. 366.11 Lac Additionally, the average annual financial turnover during the last 5 years should be at least 30% of the estimated cost, and solvency of 40% of the estimated cost from a bank or 10% solvency of the estimated cost from the District Magistrate. The bid capacity can also be calculated using the following formulas:
1. Three similar works: 3 * 0.4 * Tendered Cost
2. Two similar works: 2 * 0.5 * Tendered Cost
3. One similar work: 1 * 0.8 * Tendered Cost
4. One work of any nature: 1 * 0.4 * Tendered Cost These formulas provide the minimum requirements for the bidder's past work experience to be eligible for the tender. The bidding capacity of the contractor should be equal to or more than the work put to tender, calculated using the formula: Bidding Capacity = {[AxNx2.5]-B} Where, A = Maximum turnover in construction works executed in any one year during the last seven years.
N = Number of years prescribed for completion of work for which bids have been invited. B = Value of existing commitments and ongoing works to be completed during the period of completion of work for which bids have been invited. The bidder should have experience in similar class of works completed, with at least one similar work completed in the last seven years. The work experience is evaluated based on the completion of similar works, but the exact amount is not specified. However, for works involving construction of two or more basements, the bidder should have executed one similar work with a minimum of one basement under one agreement. The bidder should have satisfactorily completed similar works, with specific requirements including:
- Three Similar completed works costing not less than 40% of the estimated cost.
