The University's Digital Health And Care Innovation Centre (dhi) Is Embarking On A Proof-of-concept Project To Create A Low Carbon, Modular Smart Home Exemplar With A Focus On Digital Independent Living Innovations For Remote And Rural Settings. As Part Of The Process To Scope The Potential Outputs In This Project Dhi Is Seeking Expressions Of Interest To Participate In Preliminary Market Research Activity In Relation To Innovation Scope, Scale, Buildability, Affordability And Market Capability. The Project Aims To Develop An Innovative 2-bedroom, Single Story Innovative And Connected Home Designed Primarily, But Not Exclusively To Be Suitable For Older Adult/s Who May Have Challenges To Independent Living Due To Underlying Health Conditions Or General Frailty, Or Younger Adults With Learning Or Other Physical Disabilities. The Cost Of And Timescale To Deliver /build An Individual Unit Will Be A Significant Consideration, With The Outcome Required To Deliver A High-quality Product At An Affordable Price Point. The Building Materials And Method Of Construction Is Also A Key Consideration Ensuring As Close To Net Zero Carbon Production As Possible. It Is Envisaged That The Home Will Be Designed And Fitted Out To Minimise Day To Day Running Costs And Optimise Independent Living And Wellbeing With Minimal Environmental Impact, Supported By The Appropriate Use Of Innovative Digital Technologies. Build Stage Digital Innovations Shall Be A Key Requirement, The Initial Project Scopes Suggest That Technologies Should Be Considered To Monitor And Optimise The Buildings Performance And The Individual’s Wellbeing, Activity And Independent Daily Living Within Its Environment. These Technologies Should Be Targeted At Supporting And Monitoring The Safety, Health And Wellbeing Of The Occupant/s. The Outcome Of The Proof Of Concept Must Promote Independent Living And Focus On Prevention And Early Intervention Promoting Health And Wellbeing As Well As Alerting And Summoning Assistance In Case Of An Emergency Situation. Data Generated By Digital Devices (integrated Into The Fabric Of The Build Is Preferred) Should Be Collected And Made Readily Accessible To The Occupier And Their Family/carers As Well As In A Format That Can Be Shared With External Agencies With Appropriate Consents. Consideration Should Be Given As To The Benefits Of Including Digital Fit Out As Part Of The Construction Process As Well As Retrofitting. It Is Desirable (but Not Essential) That The Home Should Be Constructed In Such A Way That Could Be Disassembled And Potentially Relocated To A Different Location If Required. In Addition, Dhi Is Seeking Expressions Of Interest From Industry Partners To Support The Development Of A Population Stratification Platform. Based On The Social Determinants Of Health, The Solution Will Be Capable Of Applying Ai Analysis To A Citizen’s Data, Collected From Multiple Sources Including Devices, Health, Care, Housing, Community, And Self-reporting Via Consented Access To Their Secure Personal Data Store. By Analysing The Holistic, Personalised And Fluid Data Set, The System Will Establish And Display Personalised Norms And Trends And Will Be Able To Detect Deviation Within Defined Parameters That May Be Indicative Of Change In Health And Function Prompting Earlier Intervention And Minimise Escalation. This Will Be Included In The Upcoming Itt And Will Be Managed In Parallel To Create An End-to-end Solution. Cpv: 72222300, 72222300.
