The Requirement For This Acquisition Is Driven By The Need To Replicate The Lunar Environment At Cold Temperatures Of ~40 Kelvin Within A Vacuum. The Type Of Material Characterization Necessitated By The Program Development Requires An Electro-mechanical Load Frame And Supporting Components Including Data Acquisition And Load Cells Capable Of Extended Duration Durability Testing (up To Two Years Of Continuous Operation Applying Load Cycles At A Rate Of 1 Hz).
