The building is currently not in use and has been vacated for some time. Parts of the building have a basement, and parts are elevated above the outdoor facilities. Building services systems and expert inspections for the purposes of maintenance and upkeep of the building are ongoing. As part of extensive renovations inside and out, as well as the addition of additional uses/buildings, building 700 is to be rented out to the Federal Police for the long term for repatriation processes and thus revitalized. As part of the window and sun protection work, 13 new custody windows, 6 of which will be barred, will be installed, 4 aluminum-glass exterior doors and 3 T30 aluminum-glass interior doors will be installed. The sun protection on the entire ground floor will be dismantled as part of the upstream demolition work and stored in material stores on the construction site. This is to be moved to the facade as part of the window and sun protection work. This involves around 90 Venetian blind boxes including curtains. The motors and control units of the Venetian blind systems will be replaced throughout the building. There are around 275 of them. In the interior (1st and 2nd floors) a glass partition wall (~260m²) will be built as a PR facade. This is located directly next to a ceiling opening where there is currently a railing. This must be dismantled and disposed of beforehand (~80 m). Further system partition walls will be built in various areas (~160m²). An opaque, impact-resistant film must be stuck to all glazing on the entire ground floor (~940m²).
