The bid capacity required in the given tender is referred to as the Residual Bid Capacity or Available Bid Capacity (ABC), and it can be calculated using the formula: Available Bid Capacity (ABC) = 2.5 x A x N - B Where:
A = Maximum value of all Civil Engineering works in any one year during the last 5 financial years (or Maximum turnover in the last five financial years)
N = Number of years prescribed for completion of work for which the current bid is invited (or Period of completion of the contracted work in years, calculated till two decimal places)
B = Value of the balance ongoing works to be executed in period N (or Value of balance work in all government and private works) For a Joint Venture (JV), the values of A and B shall be the sum total of the respective figures of both parties. The ABC should be more than the estimated cost of work given in the Notice Inviting Tender (NIT).

The bidder should have successfully completed or substantially completed similar works with any Govt agencies/PSU/Municipal Corporation/local Govt bodies. The similar works requirements are as follows: - Three similar works costing not less than 40% of the estimated cost of work, - Two similar works costing not less than 50% of the estimated cost of work, - One similar work costing not less than 80% of the estimated cost of work. These works should have been completed in the last seven and current financial years. Similar work refers to the execution of Bituminous and Surfacing works. Substantially completed works are those that are 90% completed on the date of submission.
