I. Background   The Government Of Solomon Islands (the Government) Has Requested Assistance From The Asian Development Bank (adb) To Implement The Proposed Land And Maritime Connectivity Project (lmcp). The Project Aims To Improve Road And Maritime Connectivity By Rehabilitating And Upgrading Urban And Rural Roads In Guadalcanal Province, Totaling 35.85 Km, Constructing Two Domestic Wharves In Makira And Rennell Bellona Provinces, And Upgrading A Wharf At Honiara International Port. The Project Will Also Undertake Maintenance Of Sealed And Unsealed Roads In Makira And Guadalcanal Provinces For 8 Years Commencing From 2021 To 2028.   Ii. Key Objectives   The Objective Of The Proposed Construction Supervision Consultant (csc) Services Is To Assist The Central Project Implementation Unit (cpiu) Established Under Ministry Of Infrastructure Development (mid) To Implement The Project Through (i) Proper Management Of Civil Works Contracts Including Assignment Of A Dedicated “engineer" As Defined In Fidic Conditions Of Contract To Complete The Work Within The Scheduled Completion; (ii) Comprehensive Construction Supervision To Ensure Compliance With The Engineering Drawings, Safeguard Requirements, Technical Specifications And Various Other Stipulations In The Contract Documents; (iii) Maintain High Standards Of Quality Assurance In The Execution Of Works; And (iv) Transfer Technical And Contract Administration Knowledge To The Mid And Its Staff In Central Project Implementing Unit (cpiu) And Solomon Islands Ports Authority (sipa). Csc’s Scope Of Services Will Cover The Following Sub-projects Of The Project As In Table 1. Likely Duration Of The Contract Is 8 Years With Expected Commencement In Q2 2021 And Likely Completion By December 2028.   Note: The Consulting Opportunity Is Open For Adb Member Countries Only
