UNFPA Humanitarian Office is inviting proposals from reputable and qualified suppliers with a track record of success in working in academic analysis of humanitarian logistics, with a focus on sustainability and environmental logistics. In line with the HSS, we are looking for suppliers who can conduct an analysis of UNFPA’s humanitarian supply operation with the development of key achievable actions so UNFPA can help achieve a world of net zero emissions. Activities include evaluating the existing environmental impact of UNFPA’s humanitarian supply chain and making recommendations to improve environmental sustainability, as well as improving medical waste management capacity at the last mile. We are looking for suppliers with experience in working with or analysing UNFPA humanitarian supply chains and logistics management processes, mapping greenhouse gas emissions and other types of quantitative and qualitative analysis on the impact of humanitarian logistics on the environment. The analysis should take into consideration: Priorities within the UNFPA Humanitarian Supplies Strategy UNFPA Procurement Services Branch ongoing research on Green Procurement UNFPA Green Procurement Strategy The Global Logistics Cluster initiative on green humanitarian logistics UNFPA Policy and Procedures on Management of Programme Supplies UNFPA Procurement Rules and Regulations Good Storage and Distribution Practices for Medical Products The selected service provider will work under the direction of the UNFPA Humanitarian Supplies Analyst. Scope of work A quantitative and qualitative analysis of UNFPAs humanitarian supply chain and logistics practices, from international logistics to the last mile including waste management. A report outlining the analysis, conclusions and concrete recommendations for activities to reduce the impact of humanitarian operations on the environment; recommendations can include: Modifications to internal processes and procedures Improved systems for data collection on emissions and environmental impact Implementation of innovative green logistics solutions Increasing staff acceptability, capacity and knowledge on environmental logistics solutions Other relevant modifications to systems and programmes Recommendations based on the analysis will be considered for implementation and scale up within UNFPAs global humanitarian response in 2022. Objectives Conduct data analysis and develop report including summary of analysis and recommendations.
