The Department Of Environment And Resource Management (derm) And Ergon Energy Are Undertaking A Jointly And Equally Funded Consultancy To Report On The Potential Benefits, Costs And Risks Associated With The Deployment Of A Unified Positioning Infrastructure In Queensland. In This Context Positioning Infrastructure Refers To The Deployment And Operation Of Permanent Global Navigation Satellite System (gnss) Continuously Operating Reference Stations (cors) Over Queensland Or A Significant Geographic Portion Thereof. The Data From These Gnss Cors Will Be Streamed In Real-time To A Central Computing Facility, From Which Precise Positioning Services Can Be Offered To Appropriately Equipped Users, Allowing These Users To Position Themselves With Centimetre Accuracy In Real-time. The Positioning Infrastructure And Precise Positioning Services Use The Networked Real Time Kinematic (nrtk) Technique To Provide These Services. Derm And Ergon Energy Are Seeking Recommendations On An Optimal Business Model For The Implementation Of Unified Positioning Infrastructure And Precise Positioning Services For Queensland, And The Respective Roles For State Government (the Department), Ergon Energy And Private Industry Groups Within This Model. The Development Of The Model Shall Also Take Into Consideration The Specific Requirements Of Derm And Ergon Energy. As This Consultancy Will Be Funded Jointly By Derm And Ergon Energy, Time And Resources Are To Be Expended On Derm And Ergon Energy Impacts From Positioning Infrastructure Equally.
