  • Various Indian Railway Projects worth approximately ₹254 cr were launched in June 2022, in Hooghly district of WB.
  • An Export Promotion Industrial Park is being planned under the aegis of Asansol Durgapur Development Authority to set-up an Industrial Cluster in the region.
  • Establishment of Agri-Export Zones (AEZ) has been a KRA of the present Government of WB. These zones mainly focus on processing of food products. In August 2022, a Special Food Processing Fund of ₹2000 cr was set-up along with NABARD to encourage processing units in the MFPs.
  • During the Bengal Global Business Summit in 2022, the state government could attract investment proposals worth US $44 billion. These proposals will not only bring in revenue for setting up businesses but also generate 4 lakh jobs approximately.
  • GAIL along with its subsidiary companies, will invest US $2.2 billion in various CNG projects over the next 5 years to help reduce the state government’s expenditure on fuel.
  • The Chief Minister of WB has announced a ₹72,000 industrial zone in Jangalmahal, along the eastern freight corridor.
  • Post the introduction of West Bengal Information Technology and Electronics Policy 2018, WB is on a fast track to become one of the leading states in IT and ITeS, ICT and ESDM sectors. The state government plans to raise its share in the country’s IT export to more than 25% by 2020.
  • With the recent change in the attitude of the WB Government towards private industries, a large number of private players have now stepped up their interest in the state. Adani Group has announced that it will invest ₹10,000 cr in the state over the next 10 years. JSW Group is developing a 900 MW hydel power project.

  • ₹3857 cr has been allocated towards Irrigation and Flood Control
  • ₹4994 cr has been allocated towards the Krishak Bandhu Scheme
  • The state government along with the private sector will invest ₹5000 cr in the tourism sector that will create jobs for 200,000 people in the next 3 years
  • A special industrial corridor is being planned from Dankuni to Asansol via Burdwan-Durgapur and Barjora-Bankura to Raghunathpur in Purulia district
  • In January 2021, the Central Government, State Government and the World Bank announced that they are coming together for a development project to improve inland water transport infrastructure near Kolkata
  • Tea Tourism and Allied Business Policy, 2019, have been introduced by the state government to give a boost to tourism in the state
