RVUNL is an acronym for Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd. Other common abbreviations used are “RRVUNL”, “RVUN” or “RUVNL”.

RVUNL is a public-sector undertaking (PSU) wholly owned by the Government of Rajasthan. The company was established on 19th July 2000 under the Companies Act 1956 and it is headquartered at Jaipur, Rajasthan. 

It is one of India’s leading power generation companies that provides electricity to residential & commercial users in the state of Rajasthan. For the last 20 years, it has played an important role in the growth of state development by providing an efficient & affordable power generation in the country.

What is the main role of RVUNL?

The main responsibility of RVUNL is to develop the power projects under the state sector and providing power generation as the highest priority in serving the customers in the Rajasthan state. The department has produced more than 6500 MW of electricity.

Other important roles include the operation & maintenance of the existing power plants that are owned by the RVUNL. There are various power plants owned by the Government of Rajasthan.

While the Gas power plants are operated at Dholpur and Jaisalmer. And the Hydropower plants are operated at Mahi and mini hydel stations in the state.   • Giral Lignite Thermal Power Project (GLTPP) ,Giral, Distt. Barmer- 250 MW

Gas Power Plants of RVUNL:

  • Dholpur Combined Power Project (DCCPP) , Dholpur- 330 MW
  • Ramgarh Gas Thermal Power Station (RGTPP), Distt. Jaisalmer- 273.5 MW

Hydel Power Plants of RVUNL:

  • Mahi Hydel Power Station, Distt-Banswara- 140 MW
  • Mini Micro Hydel Schemes- 23.85 MW
