Details: Delay-tolerant Networking (dtn) Is A Network Architecture Approach That Seeks To Address The Technical Issues In Heterogeneous Networks That May Lack Continuous Network Connectivity. Such Networks Are Planned Networks In Space.to Provide A Shared Framework For Application Development In Dtns, The Bundle Protocol (bp) Has Been Standardised, Which Defines A Series Of Contiguous Data Blocks As A Bundle Where Each Bundle Contains Enough Semantic Information To Allow The Application To Make Progress Where An Individual Block May Not.bundles Are Routed In A Store And Forward Manner Between Participating Nodes Over Varied Network Transport Technologies. The Bp For Consultative Committee For Space Data Systems (ccsds) Is A Profile Of Standardized By Internet Engineering Task Force (ietf) With Protocol Rfc 9171/9172 Specifically Addressing The Bp's Utility For Data Communication (including Security) In Space Missions.ccsds Dtn Is Currently Developing A Security Architecture. Its First Element Is The So-called Bundle Protocol Security (bpsec), Standardised By Ietf (rfc 9172) And Is Also Currently In A Standards Development Track In Ccsds. Bpsec Will Provide A Security Service(confidentiality And Integrity) To The Dtn Bp.missions That Will Interface With A Dtn Architecture Will Probably Require To Providesecurity Services At Their Dtn Nodes Implementations. Thus, An Implementation Of The Dtn Bpsec Will Be Needed.following The Above,the Implementation Of Dtn Bpsec Is Vital In Order To Support Interplanetary Missions, Deep Space Missions, Etc. Using Heterogeneousnetworks, Aiming To Address Lack Of Continuous Network Connectivity In Such Scenarios. This Activity Aims At Developing And Implementing An On Board Ccsds Dtn Bpsec Building Block (including Bp) That Can Be Used In Future Mission That Require Such Dtn Implementations. The Outcome Of This Activity Shall Be A Software And Hardware Module Implementing Dtn Bpsec.this Activity Encompasses The Following Tasks: Phase 1 (800 K, 18 Months): Development Of A Verification Testbed And Software Moduleo Definition Of The Requirements Of An On Board Dtn Bpsec Building Block (including Bp).o Design Of The Module.o Design And Implementation Of A Testbed Suitable To Test And Demonstrate The Operational Capabilities Of The Module.o Software Implementation.o Verification Of The Bp/bpsec Software Module At The Verification Testbed.o Compatibility Check With Ground Segment Implementations And Definition Of Interface Requirements. Phase 2 (1,200 K, 18 Months):implementation Of The Dtn Bp/bpsec Building Block On A Hardware Module (engineering Qualification Model).o Demonstration, Verification And Validation Of The Implementation Of A Dtn Bp/bpsec Module In Operational-like Environment.the Software Versions Resulting From This Activity Shall Be Distributed Under An Esa Software Community Licence, So That Any Individuals Or Entities Within Esa Member States Can Access To It And Can Provide Updates To Thecommunity Of Users.
