The Calgary Metropolitan Region (cmr) Growth Plan (growth & Servicing Plans — Cmrb) Directs The Creation Of Context Studies In Four Areas Of The Region That Are Referred To As Joint Planning Areas (jpas). These Jpas Have Been Identified As Areas Where - In Addition To Urban Municipalities And Hamlet Growth Areas - Growth Will Be Directed Within The Region. They Are Also Areas Where Significant Infrastructure And Growth Pressures Either Currently Exist Or Are Anticipated. Context Studies Are A Non-statutory Document For Collaboratively Facilitating Growth In The Jpas, And Provide A Foundation For The Sustainable, Equitable And Efficient Provision Of Servicing, Mobility, Recreation, And Environmental Management. This Project Is For Jpa 1, Which Includes A Northern Portion Of The City Of Calgary, A Southern Portion Of The City Of Airdrie, And A Central Portion Of Rocky View County (see Map Below). The Three Jpa 1 Municipalities Are Working Trilaterally In A Collaborative Environment To Create A Context Study For The Area By The August 2025 Calgary Metropolitan Region Board (cmrb) Deadline.
